I'm looking for a new watch (first luxury watch) and rather then post on here for opinions I want to do my own research. The thing that confounds me is movements. Not mechanical vs automatic or quartz vs sapphire etc, there are guides that explain the main types easily on a Google search. But can you recommend somewhere to read up on specifics? I.e. How to compare one movement vs another? Brands label movements with names like L888.6 or Omega 8400, and list frequency in hertz, which is fine but also not very forthcoming with details. Where to start a better understanding of all this and how it translates to quality and accuracy?

I'm hoping some the knowledgeable gentlemen on here who comment on such things can help! Thanks in advance.

Google will still take you to everything. Look up the L888.6, find the link for Caliber Corner. Then start looking up the various terms within. You can also watch YouTube videos on servicing various movements to understand how they're constructed.
