Sinnerman by Nina Simone is a great longer song! One of my favourites to listen to on my walk to work in the mornings.

Def check out depression rock epic Beach Life-in-Death by Car Seat Headseat
Lol Beach Life in Death was the first thing that came to my mind too. Famous Prophets as well
my first thought!
Many songs by Car Seat Headrest, they've all got great story telling and/or strong emotional arcs. Beach Life In Death is the first thing coming to my mind right now
Octavarium by dream theater, the full version is 24 minutes music for your ears
Magnificent!
I'd like to say most things by Yes, but that's an easy option.
Ocean Pride from Marillion's Marbles album springs to mind though.
ELP, Pictures At An Exhibition. Or Pirates.
Genesis, Supper's Ready or Firth Of Forth.
And surprisingly (after picking up on it on Radio Paradise) Snow Patrol, The Lightning Strike.
In no particular order:
- Maggot Brain by Funkadelic (courtesy of Eddie Hazel's guitar),
- Come Down to Us by Burial.
- Hallucinations Troubadour by Tim Buckley (a mash-up),
- Dogs by Pink Floyd (basically all of Animals just flows on great),
- Station to Station by David Bowie
- A lot of tracks from Kate Bush's 50 Words for Snow.
I also really like a good EP that all flows together and feels like one track.

Perhaps you didn't think of classical music per se, but this is one of my favorite pieces of music, from Mahler's "Tragic" symphony, written during a rather good period of his life if memory serves. He also didn't call it "tragic himself" I believe. Just a beautiful movement that stands on its own.
You're right, I didn't consider classical music. But I do have a ton of respect for it even though I don't listen to it much anymore. I love the way it can tell a story without a single word.
Inamorata by Metallica is a recent favorite. It’s their longest recorded song and just came out in April. It’s pretty sick.
Can’t go wrong with 2112 by Rush either. So good.
“I” by Meshuggah. About 21 minutes long. Also, “Blackwater Park” by Opeth, just over 12 minutes, though I feel like mentioning Opeth is cheating.
It's not quite 10 minutes, but I'd say Dancers to a Discordant System is my favorite Meshuggah song regardless.
Excellent pick with the Of Montreal track.
One song that immediately came to mind for me is 2112 by Rush which runs about 20 minutes.
Also when I think of long songs I often think of post-rock music and Godspeed You! Black Emperor is one of my favorite post-rock groups. Their album Asunder, Sweet and Other Distress is technically 4 tracks running about 40 minutes but before those tracks existed on an album they existed as 1 song that they would play live called Behemoth. So I often consider that album to be 1 song.
I don’t usually have the attention span for really long tracks, but there are some exceptions for sure
Sinnerman by Nina Simone would have been my answer but someone beat me to it lol
So going another direction, check out Gilbert’s Groove by Circles Around the Sun, if you like a bit of psychedelia
I used to be really into prog rock, so my definition of a long song is kinda skewed.
Thick as a Brick - Jethro Tull is my go-to long song, but for something a bit more attention-span friendly you can try Close to the Edge - Yes
One of my favorites I'm able to recall at the moment is Siberian Breaks on MGMT album Congratulations. It's a little over 12 minutes long
That's the classic length of prog songs... Here are my favorites:
Close to the Edge - Yes
Anonymous II - Focus
Lizard - King Crimson
Illusions on a Double Dimple - Triumvirat
Karn Evil 9 - Emerson, Lake and Palmer
The Battle of Epping Forest - Genesis
Mortal Man by Kendrick Lamar. The way it ties in all the songs and explains why the album is called To Pimp a Butterfly is amazing.
Sleep by Godspeed You! Black emporer is perhaps the most beautiful thing Ive ever heard. I also like Kick the tragedy by drop nineteens
I just saw Of Montreal and knew it was this song even though I didn’t remember the name.
My fave lately is Marquee Moon by Television.
Long season by Fishmans is a beautiful piece of music. I think it is worth listening to both the studio and live versions also
I'm a huge Bob Dylan fan, so "Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands" and "Desolation Row" top the list for me when it comes to 10+ minute tracks. I don't have many tracks longer than that in my collection, or at least none that immediately come to mind.
Longseason - Fishmans was one of my most listened to songs last year, which says a lot considering it's 35 minutes.
Silver Owl - Kikagaku Moyo is another favorite track of mine and got me into this band as a whole.
The Land Before Timeland - King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard Is part one of a two-parter, and one of the best albums King Gizzard has put out (out of like 25 records?)
Dream Theatre - The Count of Tuscany
Kurt Vile - Wakin’ On A Pretty Day
I love getting lost in a long song.
The Flying Luttenbachers - Rise of the Iridescent Behemoth
Moments in Love by Kara-Lis Coverdale.
Reptile by Periphery is 16 minutes long
Respect is Due by Dismemberment Plan
Isaac Hayes - Moonlight lovin'
Various Floating Points tracks
It goes a bit all over the place honestly
the decline by nofx
veil of illumination by andromeda
1983 by jimi hendrix
the camera eye by rush (2112 also)
there is a whole lot more but thats all i can think of currently
I have only listened to two Opeth records (Deliverance and Blackwater Park), but this song is already a standout for me. Great opener - it gets right into business with the nasty verse riff and I can't help but make a stank face when I hear it. Lots of dissonance and different parts, but the song maintains its momentum from start to finish - no awkward transitions or unnatural mood shifts.
I haven't listened to Deliverance yet, but i checked out Blackwater Park a few weeks ago and it was good, The Baying of the Hounds from Ghost Reveries is really good too
Currently this one:
an 11-minute suite consisting of several thematically related movements, which feature both electric and acoustic instruments.
