A majority of judges on Brazil’s electoral court have voted to block former President Jair Bolsonaro from seeking public office for the next eight years, removing a top contender from the next presidential contest and dealing a significant blow to the country’s far-right movement.

The judges ruled that Mr. Bolsonaro had violated Brazil’s election laws when, less than three months before last year’s vote, he summoned diplomats to the presidential palace and made baseless claims that the nation’s voting systems were likely to be rigged.

I’m getting tired of so many good news after Lula got elected last year.

Inflation is down, exchange rates are better, gas prices stabilized, minimum wage is up and now Bolsonaro got barred from running again until 2031.

Congrats on the well deserved tiredness ;)

How is the rainforest and it's native people doing? Haven't heard about them in a while....

Only until 2031? Do you think he'll run again after he's allowed to?

If he manages to stay relevant until then for sure.

This fucker did so much damage here, y'all have no idea, and that's not even a fraction of what he deserves, but it's great news. Last year's election day was a nightmare, we barely made it.(having everything counted and announced day of is fun and zappy, but nerve-wracking)

I was already dreading the next one.

Just look at Turkey ... Well, and the US :(

I definitely celebrated with my Brazilian friends when you made it!

On the brighter side: Hello Basil from Brazil 👋

I appreciate that. Turkey's results this year were geim, but I celebrated the US results as well. :D

Also: lmao, it wasn't on purpose I can't believe I did that.

You have to protect your institutions. I say, well done Brazil.
