I'm new myself but took the time to learn the platform. I'm not sure other people will have as much of an interest, so I'm just wondering if it would be a good idea for some of the old hat people to post some tips for people coming over from reddit.

This is a good idea. I tried to make one for my instance here but I think it's not a great guide.

It covers the main draw, which is subscribing to communities you want to follow. That's super important!

Thanks, it is a pretty inobvious process unfortunately. Hopefully Lemmy will make it more clear in the future. Even 0.17 => 0.18 improved the UI a lot, but there's still a long ways to go.

At Lemmy.ninja we wrote a FAQ that we're keeping updated. We keep it pinned to the top of every community right now. We don't worry about getting the philosophy of Lemmy across; we instead focus on all the things that made us scratch our heads when we first tried to use the platform.

Check it out here.
