And was a pre-condition to not invade Ukraine.

What an absurd statement. Is invading Ukraine some kind of slippery slope that requires constant effort or else we'll just wildly slide wildly down it? No one forced Russia's hand here but their madman despot.

Yeah I don't think the client apps have been updated for API changes in 0.19.0 yet. Bleh.

We are already! Unless we've specifically unfederated from someone, you can get their content. You can see who's blocked by clicking "instances" in the lower right and then checking the blocked tab.

It's a fine username, they're simply using the most uncharitable reading possible of it (that you exclusively like fat enbies and such a stance is equivalent to being a fat enby chaser which is equivalent to transphobia) to perform character assassination. As most of Hexbear's content, it's breathless, derogatory, inflammatory, and unrelated to most people's reality.

Actually it seems pretty unstable. Working on that.

In an effort to get Federation working better and get better performance out of our Fly containers, I upgraded lib.lgbt to 0.19.0-rc.3. Apologies for the unannounced downtime.

So far it does seem to be running better... I am sometimes getting connection errors when I refresh though, will keep an eye on those.

Yeah every time I ask people what non-D&D systems they play I get a rude wake-up call.

If we didn’t evolve to have gay sex why are gays so good at sex? QED.

It seems like they want to see pics of fat enbies, which is not transphobic, nor is a username suggesting their desire to do so.

I saw this. I'm sorry it happened to you.

If it makes you feel any better, they are truly, truly awful people. They spend their time harassing and brigading in order to simp for the most murderous, anti-leftist, anti-queer dictators the world has ever known. They are basically definitionally assholes, and idiots on top of that.

Leave them in their cesspit. They deserve whatever they inflict on each other (and those instances too stupid or naive to defederate with them). We have better uses for our time.

They’ve never broken any rules I’ve seen so not really interested in anonymous (and probably Hexbear-driven) gossip. If you’re interested in unity why are you spreading divisiveness?

It’s “whataboutism” in the sense we’re interrogating focus. Why do you think white ethnonationalists spend so much time asserting “white lives matter?” Because there’s only so much air in the room, and they know giving air to one cause deprives another.

I think it’s worth wondering why people spend so much time discussing Israel/Palestine and so little discussing other issues that are at least as large from a “people impacted” perspective. Obviously there’s also an African infantilization (that is to say, racist) double standard here — we simply don’t expect Africa to have human rights. But I would say there is certainly also an Israel double standard, and it is antisemitic in the same way saying “well of course Sierra Leone is a hellhole, there’s no news there” is racist.

You are not a news outlet. But you choose what you’re spending your time and effort on. And it is this. I think many people don’t interrogate why they get so involved and what their opinions actually mean in terms of what their focus accomplished and what it broadcasts.

I apologize for choosing you as the vehicle for this message; I don’t mean to attack you personally. There are a ton of people doing this and your message was as good as any other to demonstrate my point.

Higher expectations is reasonable! Would you say two times higher? Ten times higher? A hundred times higher?

As a baseline, how much have you posted about Sierra Leone and the human rights abuses there in the last year?

Similarly to lemmy.ca and lemmy.world, we are also unfederated from hexbear.

It's been almost exactly two months since I started lib.lgbt so I thought it would be a good time to assess how people are liking the instance and Lemmy in general.

So... How are people liking Lemmy so far? Any comments/concerns about lib.lgbt itself?

Earlier I defederated us from sh.itjust.works. They seem like they haven't done anything problematic or concerning for a few months now though, and they have a tech community I wouldn't mind reading. Would people be interested in refederation?

The UI still shows being on 0.18.3 though I upgraded that as well, not sure why.

As other instances have done, we also are defederating from what appears to be a server taken over by alt-right and neo-Nazi content. Or an exploding-heads proxy. Or both.

Just thought people might want to know I upgraded this instance this morning!

I don't want to unfederate from this instance, but the times it's sending across the Fediverse are totally wrong and result in content appearing out-of-order.

The current frontend lib.lgbt used is lemmy-ui. However, there’s no particular reason we should stay on that one other than that it’s the official frontend.

I saw a cool list with screenies of other frontend possibilities and was wondering if we should switch to one. Does anyone have any preferences?

This instance does not have custom emoji enabled, so lib.lgbt was not compromised by the hack that compromised lemmy.world and blahaj.zone.

Nevertheless I updated us to 0.18.2-rc1 which has a patch for the vulnerability in question, just in case.
