Maybe lawmakers should be taking basic empathy classes too because this is dystopian as hell. And they wonder why the younger generations don’t want kids?!

And they wonder why people don’t want to be school teachers. Between crazy hours, low pay and this crap, why would you?

The ignorance of these politicians is just astounding.
It's incredible that the human race has survived this long when apparently half the population is so wilfully ignorant of how its continuation actually works in practice.
In an industry largely dominated by females in their childbearing years it is beyond insane that they don't have a right so basic as maternity leave. It's a disgrace.
Not enough substitutes because nobody gets paid enough in the first place.
To me, the USA really seems more and more to be a failed state. I'm so sorry for all these teachers.
Make FMLA paid leave nationwide and the problem is largely solved.
Great policies for great demographies.
