Falafel Recipe

  • Dried Chickpeas (soaked overnight)
  • Ras El Hanout
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • parsley (optional)

Grind the chickpeas in a food processor until fine but not pastey and let them sit in the fridge for about 15 min. Mix in the spices and optionally herbs. Bring your falafel into shape and deep fry.

I quite enjoy falafel and I'd like to try my hand at making them, but deep frying is not an option for me. Anyone have suggestions how to make them in a skillet or oven?

1 tablespoon olive oil and 3-5 mins per side on medium high heat.

only tried with premixed falafels so far, but i usually just put them for like 20 Minutes at 180°C in the oven. just gotta flip them after ~10 Min.

I don't think you can really mess them up too much, it's probably also fine if you use lower heat or keep them shorter/longer in there. you can also just taste them from time to time to see if they are good.

You can add oil if you want, i bake them without though

Here is one for the skillet. Would air-frying be an option? Here is one recipe that says baking makes them soggy, and has a work around (putting more oil in the baking tray). Good luck and share any recipes if you come across!

Not the biggest Falafel guy myself but those look pretty tasty nonetheless!

Awesome! Would you consider cross-posting to your local vegetarian sub? We need more content!

Nice! They look great! Could you share some measures?

[–] Northern_Blood@feddit.de 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

About 130g of dried chickpeas (soaked weight should be about 260g) to ½ tsp of Ras El Hanout.
