So much speculation! Given I haven't bought a Steam Deck yet, I would love to see a refresh; though, highly unlikely. What are your thoughts?

Bro I love my steam deck, but I would be thrilled if they released a steam controller 2.0

I'm hoping for a Steam controller 2. I've been using a PS4 and PS5 controller ever since they discontinued the original Steam controller. The gyro on the PlayStation controllers works great, but the touchpad isn't useable (or even reachable) like the Steam controller's trackpads were.

I've been thinking that would be their next product ever since they released an official dock. Seems like the two make sense together.

I've got both a DualSense and a Steam Controller -- they're useful for different things. AAA titles with console ports are great with the DualSense (e.g. I'm also using it for Starfield). But the Steam Controller is the one you want for strategy games or anything that doesn't support controllers at all.

It's also surprisingly good for flight simming, so long as you can spend the time with customizing the scheme.

That's what I've been doing as well, only using the Steam Controller for strategy games. That means I don't use it much these days (which is too bad, since it's a great controller), but I since it can't be replaced now I figure I'll only use it for the games it really needs.

Lots of speculation that it's a new VR headset.

Weren't they floating codename Deckard a while back? If they can make a handheld that plays modern titles reliably, a standalone headset on par with the Quest seems about the right speed as far as next steps goes.

It's pretty likely that its the Deckard, because we know they've been working on that for years, even before the Steam Deck was announced. I don't think that Valve has been working on any other hardware lately. It'll be pretty hype if it actually is, though I kinda bought my Index last year so I'm not hyped about it being obselete.

I hope it's a regular steamdeck with a screen upgrade and a bigger battery. I'd be happy with just that.

I'd also like hall effect joysticks and a better d-pad

At this point I've got the Steam Controller and 2 backups that I bought when Valve was offloading them for $5 each. It's still one of my favorite controllers, and it's the only way to comfortably play strategy titles from the couch without KBM on a tray table or something.

I really hope they bring out a new one, in particular if it has quadruple grips on the back like the Deck.

If it is "Deckard" I hope they fix the current snares with inside-out tracking. Also hope I don't have to wait two years between EB Games restocks here in Aus.

Inside out is both excellent and awful. But meta fixed the tracking issues by putting inside out tracking on the controllers. Do that and add a depth sensor to the headset and tracking should be damn near perfect.

People suspect its a vr headset, or a vr headset adjacent tech like a more portable (reletively) higher powered pc box to be able to use it while carrying it to be able to do pcvr without being tethered to a standing object.
