United Kingdom
General community for news/discussion in the UK.
Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.
Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
Thanks. I was wondering if this was old news or had happened again.
There must be top-post bots working through old Reddit posts.
Nice, stealing from multinational conglomerates is never morally wrong and should always be encouraged.
But think of the shareholders!
You. I like you.
Doesn't Banksy's entire schtick hang on "helping himself" to a "canvas?"
oh nooo. Poor bansky. This has ruined my day. Kids are crying now.
Will he pay their legal fees if someone gets arrested?
No, but Elon Musk will promise to pay your legal fees then double back on it.
His celebrity status depends on hyperbolic rhetoric like this. If he had handled it the way normal people do, through courts, he'd be damaging his mystique. The sheep that think he's the bee's knees slurp this bullshit up.
So? Is he wrong?
I can't say legally since I'm not a lawyer but I don't think much of people who suggest you do (crime) because (crime) occurred. I consider it a low-end mentality to view that as a resolution or justice of some kind.
I don't think that it's a resolution or justice, I think it's funny ^^
Not as funny as a person adept at using stencils to paint on other people's property getting upset someone used his stenciling on their property, IMHO.
I support people painting on gray walls in cities!
I support it if it's what the people want.
If he had handled it the way normal people do, through courts
There is more to it than that. He's been blocked from claiming the copyright on his own work since he'd need to dox himself. He can't claim the copyright as 'Banksy' since it's not his real name.
This is like being in a time capsule from 2022
This is horrifying. There’s no good reason to ever steal from a store, period.
Why is there a shoplifting community on here 😂
Something to do during the school holidays, I guess
Fair
What a fucking idiot. He / she could have sued them if he felt aggrieved instead of encouraging people to commit crimes.
He / she
Why do you assume Banksy is one of those? We don't know who Banksy is.
True true. Maybe they are a multinational conglomerate? 😅
Grandma, what are these stencils for?!
Last time he had to take it all the way to the appeal court to get them to agree he had the rights to his own images.
I can understand not wanting to do that again.
