This is a very bad situation for the world. What can the West do to address this? Are there ways production or distribution from other regions can make up for the shortage?

because he already planned to give for free it https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2023/07/27/putin-promises-free-grain-at-africa-summit-a81982

if ukraine sells it, he can't steal and give it for free to someone else

50,000 tons to 6 countries vs 3 million for the entire world. This is pure propaganda and will do nothing to address the coming food shortage.

Just enough to keep up the spin campaign blaming grain shortages on the West, and no more.

To be clear, I think everyone, including the West, should do more to address this problem. But the ultimate cause is clear, and this token gesture does nothing to address the scale of the shortage.

He gives it for free to the countries that attended his conference. Basically food blackmail.
