Has anyone found a way to stop "All" from pushing the feed down even while I'm scrolling through? It's already a bit painful now... don't wanna imagine this in a year or two, with many more users.

I think the main feed is a bit of a mess. They really need to get the algorithm for hot and active fixed so it feels more like the Reddit front page.

I agree. "Active" and "Hot" display the same threads for days. "New" is essentially just a flood of 2 or 3 popular communities.

I wish there was an "Active but hide all the posts you already looked at today" option

I really miss Boost's clear read posts feature.

The tricky part is defining an algo for hot, it’s a bit different than reddit since some instances may have many people, and local may have fewer, so there should be a balance such that posts from larger instances don’t overwhelm local instances perhaps.

I don't disagree it's tricky. But it's necessary if Lemmy will ever be a Reddit replacement.

Oh absolutely! Looking to get it running locally so I can start building something out and trialing something. Trial and error iteration would work well here I think

I'm on jerboa for android and this doesn't seem to be an issue for me here.

[–] Hanabie@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's a huge problem on desktop. Jerboa doesn't have the issue.

Jerboa, on the other hand, can't sort inside comments, can it? That has been a nuisance as well.

I'm new. is there a way to make links to other instances be links on my instance to the federated post?

[–] Tensegrity@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

Glad I'm not the only one. It's getting pretty annoying

[–] Thief@lemmy.one 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

No but its weird. Not sure how this got past testing.

[–] Hanabie@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah, I was hoping someone made a Tampermonkey script or something as a band aid until this is fixed.

[–] DrYes@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

+1. It's extremely annoying. I have been clicking on and upvoting wrong posts all over the place.
