I'm a data scientist, but i lurk too with the sysadmin people. Anyone begun to use any aspects of Microsoft Fabric? It seems MS really wants to democratize data for organizations.

Interesting idea. The org I work for uses Power BI extensively, and although I'm not a part of that team, I wonder what that would look like since it's entirely on-prem for us.

Are you utilizing the PowerBI Report Server to be fully on prem, or do you mean your data sources are on-prem and you just utilize a gateway to communicate?

Well I'm not on the team, so I don't know the answer to that question actually. The actual data resides in a MSSQL instance that's on-prem for sure, but the actual Power BI tool is I know not where. I know our data warehouse backend ETL infrastructure is an absolute mess though I try my best to stay out of that spaghetti insanity.

lol fair! ETL pipelines are an entire job description. We're fortunate to have some great data engineers, but I know that pain.
