I'm still waiting on some of the total conversions to get more developed, so I tend to stick to QoL mods. Here are some of mine:

Community Flavor Pack

Extended Outliner

Clear Notifcations

In My Humble Opinion

More Interactive Vassals

Great Empire Wars

Prisoner's of War

In My Humble Opinion adds the ability to see what your current character links of a character you're looking at - just like in CK2 which is great for some quick RP

Prisoner's of War is a great small additional in which characters taken captive in battle don't just teleport to the war leaders dungeon and are instead held by the capturing army until the make it back to their borders.

What are your favorites???

Thanks for these. I haven't really played with mods before, but these look like they're right up my alley

Absolutely! Each of these fit really well into the "spirit" of the game. I think Great Empire Wars and More Interactive Vassals are more varied but create a much more dynamic and interesting experience.

I added them all last night. I'm part way through a playthrough so I'm not sure how much of a difference that makes, but I'm really liking Community Flavor Pack and Prisoner's of War. Having to move prisoners and commanders around is great. I'm also playing in Africa at the moment, and the flavor pack has really brought the area to life!

Glad you're having a good time with them! It's crazy how that small tweak with Prisoner's of War can change the flow of the game.

I gotta check out Africa at some point. Do you have a recommended start??

@orbit I've been play from Countess Daurama Daura of Kano in 867, as she has a scripted event that lets you play as female preference from the start. There is also an achievement related to starting as her, called Mother of Us All, but I'm not trying to get that one, as it involves religious conversion, and that's not my favourite part of the game

Nice! I'll definitely give that a look as you've given me some inspiration for a Crusader Queens run. Personally I love the religion aspects in no small part because it lets me paint the map in another color lol. Also a big fan of the starting from nothing aspects.

I'm doing a custom character run as a Hellenic Greek starting in the Island of Rhodes right now. Super tough start because I'm the only pagan in the Aegean making Alliances sparse and geographically far away.

I haven't gotten around to trying it yet but my friend likes the VIET Events mod. It adds a bunch of fun flavor events to the game

[–] orbit 2 points 2 years ago

VIET and also RICE are great for this. I think VIET is mainly/mostly general flavor events while RICE adds stuff to specific regions and includes decisions. In combination they can really make the gameplay more varied from a vanilla run.

Although when I checked earlier this week one of both of them hadn't be updated for 1.9.1

So I look at this all the time. Is there enough flavor to make it different or fresh from Europe?

[–] ViridianNott@kbin.social 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

New religions and culture, as well as clothing, units, characters and art. There are also some region-specific events that can pop up.

It does suffer from the same problem as all of ck3, which is that it isn’t different enough from Europe.

I'll be giving it a shot here soon and thanks for the recommendation!

AGOT is a must-have for CK2 if you're a fan of the series. The mechanics it adds are great and I barely play the vanilla version anymore. Can't wait for the dev team to port it to CK3!

For CK2, After The End is always a favorite of mine. I believe the CK3 version is currently under development.

[–] orbit 2 points 2 years ago

I haven't tried the new one for CK3, but it is legit the best total conversion mod on CK2 I tried. Very interesting and detailed.

Weight of the crown is a mod originating from the Chinese community that very ambitiously represents minority cultures/religions, and estate powers in government. The English translation is not perfect, and this mod does slow down the game a little, but I believe it does all it wants to do in a spectacular way.
