There's some really interesting changes coming for 2e! Bards have full martial proficiency, clerics can f finally get heavy armor from within their class, wizard schools of magic are gone... Then of course the big named news, like the replacement of dragons with the magic traditions (arcane/nature/religion/occult), and the completed removal of alignment.

Are other people as excited as I am?

I am super excited for it! I love that PF2 is shedding the OGL baggage. Sure, losing the drow stinks, but that's the worst of it from my point of view.

Refocus is better? Yes please.

Removing the historic D&D alignment system? Great, I always felt like humans are more complicated than 1/9 moral archetypes.

Attributes are now just the modifiers? Finally.

Nephilim to cover planar offspring? Dig it.

More versatile heritages? Love it.

Revisiting all the classes and making improvements? OMG I can't wait to see the new and improved Witch.

Wait, this community is for tabletop RPGs as well? Interesting. Was considering writing up a Shadowrun AAR post on !RPG@lemmy.ml (did I do that link right?), might post it here too if people are interested.

Yes it's for gaming of any sort

At the moment, I think I’m most excited for getting rid of alignments. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a chance to play, but it’s nice that I’ll have some changes to look into once I do!

Although it had to be done due to the new ORC license, the removal of the Drow is a big bummer. That and the removal of the alignment system.

Really? I'm surprised to hear that take. I've only been excited for the removal of alignment! Why do you think apartment should stay?

Call me a boomer, but I like the alignment system. It pulls of its purpose pretty well: its used to summarize a creatures general actions, behavior, and personality. Plus I think the Golarion setting was able to integrate it into the setting in an interesting way with their planes/outsiders set up.

The planes are sticking around, actually. Just character alignment is going away. :)

Yeah I know I just liked how they filled out the alignments with more cool outsiders. Love daemons, im actually planning on using them for an upcoming campaign. How the alignments impact the plane system in Golarion reminds me a lot of Planechase.

Yeah Drow are so iconic and probably one of my most favorite evil fantasy societies of all time. Well there's nothing stopping our GM from keeping them as homebrew.

As someone trying to get into PF2 right now this is cool, because the changes seem nice. But also terrible, because now i will probably delay our game for a while longer. Good thing the current 5e campaign is still going strong.

I bought the CRB and beginners box just before the update was announced.

I don't not have feelings about it, but I'd rather be playing (soon - I had this planned out for later this month) than pushing things back another year.

If it makes you feel any better, the remaster won't fundamentally change the game that much. Like going from PF2e to PF2.1e. And they've said all the current rules will still be valid for people not interested in upgrading he books.

If you've got a 5e game still going then no biggie. But if you're done and thinking of switching, may as well start learning and join an awesome game group!

I know. I was just starting to think about getting the books but with the new version announced I will definitely wait with that.
