Still using Sync here, what exactly am I missing out on? Tried voyager years ago but coming from Reddit and using Sync for that, it was a pretty natural jump.

It hasn't been updated in quite awhile, and I have heard some Lemmy features are still broken - I think some types of inline images and markdown mainly, and some upcoming api changes may break it completely in the nearish future.
Jerboa is still here baby lfg
(No surprise though sense it is maintined by lemmy devs iirc)
All day and night 👏
I've been using connect and it's pretty great!
It has been great and is the UI that I want to use however it has slowly been slipping downhill over the last year and a half. That last update from this week has fucked more things than it fixed and introduced new issues as well.
I want it to be great. I want it to work properly but the dev is barely active popping in every 6 months or so to drop an update that might make it better but probably make it worse. It was a better app experience 18 months ago, that's for sure.
I've moved over to trying Voyager because of all this and it is the closest to connect I can find so far.
Thunder still exists.
The best app by far.
I started on Voyager. Didn't love it, tried Thunder and it's fantastic.
Eternity (infinity fork) is still around, but I've been using voyager myself.
Boost was my favourite client to use back on the reddit days. I migrated to lemmy before boost was announced for lemmy, but man it's a big help having it.
I love Boost. Being able to use it both for Lemmy and Reddit has been a big help in keeping me using Lemmy.
I'm usually a FOSS purist, but after trying a lot of different Reddit/Lemmy apps, it really is hands down my favourite. So much so that I've happily paid for it.
I notice there are only 5 gravestones because Sync is just mysteriously vanished, possibly not dead
That's accurate since Sync could come back with an large update since the last patch was on Mar 26, 2024.
I'm using Sync now. I think we're used to the occasional hibernation.
Also still using sync. Works great! I honestly hadn't noticed there wasn't an update since my phone is so old that I rarely get updates for anything anymore.
Been using Summit, good so far.
Eternity has been great all year.
i was a baconreader guy for the loooongest time.
Connect's been nice!
I use Raccoon. I think I like it the best out of the 4 I tried.
Sync is dead? Wasn't that the paid service one?
From what I’ve read the dev just vanished but it’s still up. The paid one. I don’t use it tho
Their direct deposit won’t vanish alongside them though 😝
Connect for Lemmy is the goat
Maybe but this isn't free and open source software...
It is free. The developer is here. Maybe you should stop being a curmudgeon about everything.
Purity testing is idiotic.
From my experience Photon is the best web client, Eternity is the best Android client and Voyager or Mlem seems to be the best iOS clients. In the free and open source side.
I don't wanna use proprietary client for the fediverse if great FOSS alternative exists.
But here are some proprietary client that looks great in my opinion Connect for Android and Arctic for iOS.
Arctic for iOS is superior in almost every way.
Except in the freedom way :) But yes probably the best client iPhone users have.
Freedom as in FOSS? I vaguely remember the dev saying they may OS it eventually but yes for now it's closed. Still free though.
Yes it is free as in free beer, it connect to a network based on an open protocole of federated free (as in freedom) software instances. It also value users privacy and respect their digital integrity, could do more to that but it's not even comparable to reddit lol. It's not black or white.
Browser Bois represent 👊
jeroba
I have no idea what any of this means.
Mobile apps that have "died" - Voyager still lives on, stronger.
By died, it means no longer being maintained.
It's also a weird cherry picked set. Jerboa is still around.
Wheres thunder?
Thunder is still being updated and their last patch was a few days ago.
Only used Voyager, Sync and Liftoff from that list but Voyager has been my favorite by far after using half a dozen different ones. I always liked RedditIsFun and it reminds me of that.
I still rock wefwef. Web client apps are just cool
What’s wrong with Avelon?
The last update was a year ago.
I like the app…but this explains it being a bit glitchy.
