To all the new users joining, I suggest you try our tesseract frontend but we also have a choice of three others.

[–] Estebiu@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I've been here for god only knows how long, but I never knew anything about the different front-ends. Lol.

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

They've been on the sidebar since forever 💀

[–] 0ops@lemm.ee 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Which is kinda out of sight on a lot of mobile clients

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 3 weeks ago

I know. That's why I point them out more actively now

[–] Drudicta@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Thank you, I'll give Tesseract a shot. Currently I don't know how to load up comments.

15 seconds later: I am IN the comments. Sorry. Thank you.

This is completely unrelated but I'm also curious while you're here, what happens to our sign up data / how secure is it? Im slightly worried about pid on me in a lefty space these days.

Stupid me didn't use a throwaway email or anything (can't even remember if it asked for an email). I should prob just make a new acct

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 26 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

As secure as I can make it on a shoestring budget. Basically unless we get targeted by a nation-state, you should be fairly secure. If OpSec is a concern, I suggest deleting the account and making one on a VPN using a throwaway email

[–] Brodysseus@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 3 weeks ago

Thanks for the reply and considering our data security, much appreciated.

Admins can see your email upon registration. So if you're really paranoid make an new account with a decoy email.

[–] P4ulin_Kbana@lemmy.eco.br 6 points 3 weeks ago

Hello, Sunshine!

[–] Draconic_NEO@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Is that actually true? I mean it would make sense but I've seen the applications interface before and it had no way to see the email, you had to go into the DB to see it.

@db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com is this still true, does Lemmy let you see email on applications? Or does seeing them still require going into the DB. If it does would you mind DMing me a screenshot of my application so I can see how different it looks from last time I saw it (0.18.4)?

[–] Draconic_NEO@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 weeks ago

It's good they finally do that now. I know in the past they didn't. Which seems really weird since admins can get it easily looking in the DB, so they're not really protecting against anything by hiding it from them in lemmy-UI.

Hmm... There's jokes here about "Second Coming"... "Plundering Booty"...

Banning NSFW, even short term, implies future Spez fuckitude that could well bury what was left of the place. Maybe it is a requirement for the C-suite to get their payouts when eventually bought by Newsmax or whatever?

[–] flicker@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 3 weeks ago

Hey! Welcome. Cool of you to join our instance.

If you're familiar with the old internet, when communities were actually communities, and each board had it's own vibe and culture, then you'll do fine here. If not, just listen to southsamurai. Lurk a bit. Feel it out. You'll learn and adjust and you'll do fine!

[–] Tramort@programming.dev 7 points 3 weeks ago

Every reddit user should consider r/redditseppuku

[–] sevan@lemmy.ca 7 points 3 weeks ago

New users? We should ask the German communities to do the sturgeon thing again, that was fun!

[–] Scary_le_Poo 6 points 3 weeks ago

I'm ootl, what did reddit do this time?

[–] kratoz29@lemm.ee 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

No one can kill Reddit faster than Reddit itself.

[–] Draconic_NEO@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 weeks ago

Couldn't have said it better myself.

[–] Draconic_NEO@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 weeks ago

I'm glad to see more people are joining this instance, and Lemmy as a whole.

[–] fossilesque@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 weeks ago

Welcome ye filthy animals.

[–] match@pawb.social 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

the gooners are coming? yeah that's sorta what they do

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 3 weeks ago

That's actually the opposite of what gooners do. Coomers on the other hand...

[–] wisepoet@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 weeks ago
