They're still allegations correct? What happened to innocent until proven guilty? If he is convicted, there will be punishments. Destroying a person's legacy before due process needs to stop.

If it were one allegation then sure, but there are over 5 allegations of people that have been confirmed to be close to him and from what I remember Gaiman basically confirmed he slept with his caretaker on her first day (he claimed it was consensual but she explained in thorough detail that he took advantage of her). Read up on the stories, they're morbid.

And Darkhorse has bailed on him. That is huge.

[–] dylanmorgan@slrpnk.net 12 points 1 month ago

This would be a salient point if Gaiman was being thrown in prison. Any business entity he has dealings with is absolutely free to say “we don’t want to be associated with someone who has been accused.”

Lol. The Netflix marketing department isn't a courthouse. Deal with it.

I thought they already said it was going to end at S2 last year?

I hate this shit!
Some things are more important than their creator

Not enriching a rapist is more important than a TV show.

I've apparently been living under a rock and hadn't heard about this. He's a predator, my god. How sad for the women he assaulted, and how disappointing for his fans.

It is difficult. In some ways some things are more important than their creators, but also, if someone is a shit person, and you can avoid enriching them further and allowing them to continue to be shit. I'm just fine with that. I can still read and enjoy my sandman graphic novels if I feel the need. I can still enjoy and appreciate the beauty of them knowing he's not getting more money or a pass for being a piece of shit human

It was announced that the second season would be the last in 2022.

[–] Steve@communick.news 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I didn't know that. I do feel better, but they must be truncating the rest of the story quite a bit.

[–] _cryptagion@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 1 month ago

They're just reporting it again to make it seem like the decision was made because of the allegations against him. It gets them ad revenue, in other words.

[–] stray@pawb.social 2 points 1 month ago

If copyright law were sensible no one would have to involve him or DC Comics to make whatever Sandman work they wanted.

At least they cant ban the already created books, I barelt started reading them preaallegations and have been looking forward to them forever, not like they are suddenly going to be bad after being reccomended them 100s of times

[–] wizardbeard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Be careful, don't you know that you aren't allowed to enjoy things made by bad people?

Don't mind me, I'll be over here with American Gods, Good Omens, and the Harry Potter books. Not enjoying them one bit. Because I'm a good person who believes good things and only supports good people.

More seriously, I'll try to buy any future copies of his stuff used, but I'm not going to sweat it. There are far more things I purchase and use on a daily basis with far worse people and power structures behind them. Not going to worry about a single author.

[–] 3dmvr@lemm.ee 6 points 1 month ago

Just going to be annoying discussing anything I read online without ppl chiming in about how the author sucks, basically forced to talk about his work in fringe communities that support the author too much

Well, there are things that absolutely will NOT hit the same now.

[–] Paradachshund@lemmy.today 1 points 1 month ago

I figured this one was too good to last. Such a love letter to the comic fans in season 1.
