@Tutanota@mastodon.social A worthy goal, but are some of these true 1:1 alternatives? Vimeo for YouTube, for example - Vimeo has a fraction of the content and targets a much different audience and use case. If the content I want to see is on YT and not on Vimeo, it's not really a practical switch. But the real sticking point for me is the smooth interoperability of Google products. I just don't think I could give that up, unfortunately (and they know and exploit that fact).

P.S.: Und #Fennec wäre für mich keine sichere Alternative, denn immerhin verfolgt und versendet diese App die Aktivität. Der originalcode ist nicht völlig quelloffen.
@Tutanota@mastodon.social Watching Mozilla decide they want to try to become another Google I find myself wanting to move away from both of them. But all real browsers are based around those big two. Hopefully Servo someday will give us a viable open option. Fingers crossed. For now I'm using LibreWolf which adds a lot of privacy-focused modifications to Firefox and should hopefully block the changes Mozilla is planning.

@Tutanota Generally a good list, though I object to Authy being on the list; mainly due to the data breach in 2022, being closed-source and making it difficult to export your TOTP codes.
I would recommend Ente Auth instead, FOSS, E2E encrypted backups/sync, easy imports and exports of TOTP codes. Cross platform apps on mobile, Mac, Windows and Linux as well.
Ente Photos can also be considered as an alternative to Google Photos.

@Tutanota@mastodon.social Authy for Android checks for the proprietary Play Integrity API from Google which Custom Roms like CalyxOS, GrapheneOS and LineageOS cannot provide so it isn't a good recommendation if you're really privacy conscious

It's just a low effort ad: no consideration for other Gmail alternatives nor good research on the other categories. People still boost it because they see their favourite services there, but it's just an ad.

Missing: Session, Threema, Obtainium, Cryptee Organic Maps, Notesnook, Mullvad Browser, Brave Browser, Brave Search, Mullvad Leta, Startpage, 1password, VPNs, aliasing services, OS alternatives, Proton services.
This is the same list you posted a few months ago. You didn't change anything for the better. Proton Calendar still beats you guys afaic (paid Tuta user). Imo the list is outdated and a bit misleading.
