They're socks that are typically given in psychiatric ward in a hospital
The ones in the picture are hospital socks, presumably from a psych related stay.
Crazy sock day is when your work asks you to wear different, funky socks for spirit week or a cause

The grippy socks in my drawer are the most expensive pair of socks I own. In fact, I'm still paying for them.

The last few times I've had surgery it was hell for my feet due to a lack of toe socks
Once you go toe socks you can't go back, they're so comfy
they exist! i have a pair from Gaiam, advertised as "grippy yoga socks". they ain't cheap though :(
grippy socks make life worth living during the season where it's too cold to walk around barefoot. trick your brain into thinking it's actually walking on dirt/rocks, with all them little bumps beneath your feet.
