PalWorld being number 2 is pretty impressive considering it only came out on the 19th. I suppose the huge number of players would make up for the relatively limited time.

It is quite long game, and only second game ever to break 2M concurrent players on steam

[–] Kruulos@sopuli.xyz 8 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Damn. I must play Brotato more. Not showing on the list

[–] blindsight 2 points 8 months ago

I've been playing Soulstone Survivors again, recently. They've added a lot of great stuff with updates since I last played. Lots of "Bullet Heaven" (?) games beyond Vampire Survivors to enjoy!

(Is that what we're calling this genre, btw? It doesn't make much sense, imho, so I hope we have a better name.)

It seems like Monster Hunter has slowly been rising up these lists!

[–] any1th3r3@lemmy.ca 8 points 8 months ago (2 children)

My money is on more Steam Decks being sold in Japan, thus driving MH up in those lists.

[–] averyminya 2 points 8 months ago

Good call, I bet that's likely it!

[–] Ashen44@lemmy.ca 2 points 8 months ago

I don't know, if I had to guess it's probably the return to world campaign.

With the announcement of the next monster hunter game, which is being made by the same team as world (so likely it's going to be very similar to world) Capcom started advertising world again and that shot it up to daily peaks of ~160K concurrent players for a while.

Interesting that it's world, and not rise. I know World is more popular on PC, but Rise is nice for the Deck.

[–] averyminya 1 points 8 months ago

I agree. I noticed in the U.S. World has a very large base of the realism crowd that got brought in because of the Sony/MS console release. I like both aesthetics, but I also value a gameplay loop I enjoy - Rise reminds me of old MH and World gameplay is just a tad tedious at the endgame for me.

There's also a pretty large modding scene for World, although I don't know how that fares for the Steam Deck. I will say though, both Rise and World run really well, Rise obviously just a little smoother but not to say that World runs poorly by any means.

I'd be interested in seeing how many of the players were new, returning, or been playing all along

I'm glad to see Dave the Diver up there. It's been my comfort food for a few weeks now, and it's easy to pick up and play for a few minutes at a time. Perfect for the Deck imo.

Is the list really by playtime on the Steam Deck?

[–] SparkyTemper@sopuli.xyz 5 points 8 months ago (2 children)

I see Diablo 4 is still on the list. I haven't played since season 1. I bought it from blizzard but I'm on Linux now so I was thinking about getting it on steam. Is there any way to get around buying it again in the steam store? I imagine I'd still have to connect my old account.

You can install the battle net launcher on the steam deck and play. I'll see if I can find the installation instructions and edit my post.

[–] dom@lemmy.ca 2 points 8 months ago

Why do you need to rebuy it from steam? They don't have a Linux version?

How does Hogwarts Legacy run on the Steam Deck? With a GTX 2060 and FX-8350 I am unable to get good frame rates, even on the lowest settings

[–] sparky1337@ttrpg.network 6 points 8 months ago

That FX-8350 is the problem.

[–] incogtino@lemmy.zip 4 points 8 months ago

The second half of this article is specifically about the FX-8350 and Hogwarts Legacy performance in case you're interested

It helps that it runs in 720p on the Deck, but it was still bad enough for me to refund it. Looks super blurry and low frame rate.

[–] singularity@lemmy.ml 1 points 8 months ago

I mostly played it on the steamdeck and it worked quite well with acceptable frame rates.

[–] darkphotonstudio 2 points 8 months ago

Wow, The Binding of Isaac is on there! Here I thought I was a weirdo clinging to an old ass game no one was interested in anymore.

[–] sirico@feddit.uk 2 points 8 months ago

Vampire survivors just a silly little itch game I can get away with a quick game before my committments....

[–] Krauerking@lemy.lol 2 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

Sorry guys that a Binding of Isaac placement is definitely me. I decided to finally beat all the bosses with every character and probably spent the whole month playing that game to do so.

Stardew Valley is creeping up on being my most played Steam game of all time. Entirely on Deck. I am starting to loathe it a bit now though. I'm very late game, and it's super grindy. It's just so chill though, I have trouble putting it down. I love me some brain rattling difficult Souls games, but Stardew Valley just lets me completely zone out. I also get something close to seven hours of battery with it unlike anything demanding that kills it in 2 or 3.
