People seem super triggered by the oil memes.

You guys okay?

[–] aew360@lemm.ee 51 points 1 year ago

Don’t even talk to me until I’ve had my “nineteen of the same joke back to back” in the morning

[–] scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech 28 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Just having 8 of them being spammed on the page at once. I'll say they were funny, and I'm american. But it quickly became spammy. At least spread them out over a few days

[–] words_number@programming.dev 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Honestly I found them especially funny because there were so many very different ones in a row xD

[–] Infynis@midwest.social 9 points 1 year ago

It's funny when it's different people organically and creatively jumping on the trend. Not so much when it's the same meme over top of different pictures, posted by the same person

This butthurt post was brought to you by an american (propapbly)

[–] MajorMajormajormajor@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Lol nope, just tired of seeing the same meme over and over again.

[–] pocketman_stuck@lemmy.eco.br 7 points 1 year ago

Imagine how tired we are of america fucking the world over and over. A meme is the least they should expect.

If its got an interesting turn I don't mind it. But sure, reposts are annoying.

Funny thing is other Americans already picked up the talking point ^^^

[–] Archlinuxforever@lemmy.3cm.us 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Similar to the butthurt posts from Europeans who must continue their America bad fetish and feed their superiority complex.

[–] Jean_le_Flambeur@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Haha lul clueless americans thinks loving your imperialistic homeland is normal.

Germany is a fckin shithole, but at least I don't pretend it is not.

[–] Archlinuxforever@lemmy.3cm.us 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Loving a country is different than loving the government itself. Also, most countries have been "imperialistic" at some point in their history. Europe is a perfect example of some of the most vile imperialism that has occurred.

Europe has been the worst, us is currently the worst. That's exactly my point.

With Imperialism and colonialism on this scale, everything is interwoven with the ideology.

What to love about the country? The cultural tradition with its slavery and natives abuse?

The present state with mass homelessness, that CIA who breaks every human right I'm the book? The propaganda, war and regime changes?

You can't decouple something in the country from the rest.

Maybe you like Meaningless feel good pop songs, but they exist and are popular because of the above. Maybe you like some food, but you can't divide that from the fact that Americans die from obesity while in the rest of the world people starve.

Imperialism has swallowed everything and integrated it into the system, that's how it works.

Loving a national state can't be pure, because national Staates cant be pure

Yeah, the OIL joke is 20 years old.

We have so much more you can make fun of.

[–] Grayox@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Especially since America is the worlds largest producer of oil now.

[–] DessertStorms@kbin.social 13 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Or, you know, block the single user posting what seems to be bothering you so much, and get on with your life?

Seriously, imagine feeling the need to, and then taking the time to make a meme about another random user on the internet whose content you don't like, and thinking you somehow have any high ground in this pathetic scenario.. 🤯🤦‍♀️😂

There's someone who posted like 5 america-bad based oil memes in the span of a few hours today.

Edit: I just scrolled further and there are even more now from the same person. Who hurt you, NOT_RICHARD?

[–] Jeredin@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago

Just block them - that’s what I did. Works well on Lemmy.

[–] NOT_RICHARD@lemmy.today 0 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

9 now. Nobody hurt me, yesterday it was beans, today it's oil, who knows tomorrow?

Absolute mad lad.

[–] Facebones@reddthat.com 7 points 1 year ago

If only Americans cared about America being bad as much as they care about memes calling America bad. 😂

[–] KingThrillgore@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 year ago

You know what Squidward? Fuck you.

[–] casmael@startrek.website 6 points 1 year ago

Jesus Christ it’s so annoying 🤦‍♂️

[–] essellburns 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Just change it up once in a while

That's what the memes are trying to achieve!

[–] MajorMajormajormajor@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Posts the same meme with a new skin over it every time
