New to gardening, spotted the first strawberry today. I've killed so many houseplants over the years, It's a great feeling to actually have something grow.

Congratulations on your first harvest! If you find the birds a problem you can always cover them with a net. I use old dried willow sticks to prop my nets up so the birds can't peck through them.

I might do that, I have some leftover netting from something else that should be able to cover it.
