I've mostly left reddit and switched to beehaw, but I posted on somewhat of a niche tech-related subreddit today since there really isn't a community for that here yet. And wow, I got instantly downvoted twice and the first comment response was rude and hostile. All I posted was a feature suggestion for software that I thought would be useful and that a good amount of people would like based on other feedback I've heard. This is not the sort of topic that should be controversial or aggravating, and it wasn't like I made an ignorant post suggesting a feature that already existed or otherwise wasn't well researched.

This type of instantly hostile response has happened numerous times on reddit for various different topics, but I just haven't posted for a while, so I forgot just how shitty it can feel. It makes me really appreciate how friendly and respectful the community is here on Beehaw and on Mastodon. People seem to have good faith in one another similar to how the internet used to be in the old days.

Have you had similar experiences with Reddit and similarly opposite experiences here on Beehaw/Lemmy?

I repeat myself: dare to say here that you dislike Firefox and Mozilla for $reasons and prefer Brave as a browser and enjoy the hostility of the Fediverse.

I had a look at the conversations you're referencing and the dissent is pretty tame. If anything, your replies are far more hostile. Being disagreed with isn't being toxic.

Really? The comments that you may read there are just those left after the mods removed other comments inviting people to ignore/block me for my f*cking browser choice. Plus, I may have been hostile towards or dislike towards Mozilla (which, as far as I know, is not a person), those people were being hostile towards me. I guess you easily can spot the difference.

Nah I still see posts saying to block. It's in response to your general aggro tone I think. You can't really complain when you get what you give.

I'm posting this using Brave by the way.

Whatever. Different opinions, I guess.

I mean, nothing personal, but this post even comes off as a little hostile.

I apologize, but I'm fed up of being often treated as a second-class netizen for not being a fan of Mozilla.

Having gone back to look at those posts, I really think it's that you came into a thread about a new feature related to Firefox in order to shit on it and cast yourself as superior for using something else. You were out here literally ordering people what to do as if that's a normal and okay way to behave.

Nobody cares that you don't like Mozilla. What people do care about is that you're being obnoxious about it.

Nobody cares that you don’t like Mozilla.

Not sure. At all.

Might be bad luck or a one off? I have never seen so many people reference/rep Brave browser as I see on Lemmy! It is much loved in the Lemmy verse!

Well, maybe it's just bad luck. Hopefully.
