For long flights - business class. It's not a small splurge by any means but the ability to lay down and sleep comfortably is a game changer as a no-longer-in-my-twenties person. Free champagne and way better food is nice as well.
I agree...except the sleeping part. I feel I'm wasting the splurge if I sleep through it.
You won't when, sometime shortly after your third in-flight movie back to back, you realize you are only 6 hours into a 13 hour flight. And you especially won't when you realize that by sleeping, you get to fully enjoy the first day of your trip rather than spend it exhausted and playing catch up!
Besides...the flight attendants ask you if you want to be woken up for all the good shit. 😉
