The killing of Nahel M, 17, has sparked riots in cities across France as well as the town of Nanterre to the west of Paris where he grew up.

Nahel had been in trouble before and was known to police, but family lawyers stressed he had no criminal record.

I find it "interesting" that this is allowed to be mentioned for a juvenile, even if no court has found him guilty. "In trouble with the police" is an extremely subjective statement.

This isn't the first we hear about France's violent policing culture, and I'm betting it won't be the last.
