I'm trying to move away from Google and other big tech corporations as much as I can without sacrificing practicality but it seems like the only way to make contactless payments is with stock android on a Google approved device.

Is there any alternative out there that would allow me to make contactless payments without these conditions met? (For example, if I put grapheneos on my phone)

As much as I understand people desire to move away from big tech, I'm not sure if I'd trust many smaller companies or open source solutions with my payment details in this way, at least Google have arrangements with the banks to protect against any issues.

Maybe your best bet would be to just get a case your debit card can fit in and carry that for contactless payments?

That'd be the ideal solution except I despise phone cases

I'm thinking of getting a fairphone or something similar for my next phone that can be taken apart (and I think in the near future all manufacturers are going to be required to follow suit), maybe I can figure out some way to rip the chip out of a card and put it physically inside the phone
