Heh, maybe they'll do a "console as a service" thing. Everything is more and more just digital goods and nobody eg. owns games anymore it's all just "you have a license to play this game", so why bother selling hardware at all?

If that's the case it'll be the first nintendo platform I don't buy since the original NES. I still buy physical cartridges and if that's no longer an option I guess I'm just a retro gamer playing emulated systems.

Same. There is something about holding onto a physical copy that digital will never replace. You could also let friends borrow them and resell them.

On that note, why doesn't Nintendo just make their own emulators? Like, that should make them a mint, having people buy games that aren't actually able to be otherwise acquired legally anymore.

Yeah I was "joking but not joking" with that comment. I wouldn't be surprised at all if game streaming was the direction they'd want to take
