Within the first 10 seconds it falsely claims Proton requires you to use an emailaaddress to create an account. I stopped after that.

Proton will often if not always require an email or phone number for verification when signing up for a free account. It's not hard to find people complaining about this on forums.

Even if it is true, you can use a temp email service.

Sure, but the point of the video is that the email requirement is not that big a deal for most people
