A nice place to discuss rumors, happenings, innovations, and challenges in the technology sphere. We also welcome discussions on the intersections of technology and society. If it’s technological news or discussion of technology, it probably belongs here.
Remember the overriding ethos on Beehaw: Be(e) Nice. Each user you encounter here is a person, and should be treated with kindness (even if they’re wrong, or use a Linux distro you don’t like). Personal attacks will not be tolerated.

That's the conclusion I came to as well, except they're not showing up 😕 Or at least not the Explainers one, haven't actually tested the others. I'll try again later, thanks for the suggestion 😃
I was able to get them all subscribed on my Beehaw account. You'd want to search for !yt_explainers@lemmy.link to find the community.
I figured it out!
https://beehaw.org/c/yt_explainers@lemmy.link
This allows me to see the external community, but still within the Beehaw context, so I'm still logged in and can subscribe to the external community 😃👍
So the formula (that works for me) is:
https://beehaw.org/c/[somecommunity@someinsta.nce]
Of course, I'm still on desktop, so not sure if this would work in one of the apps — I'll test now 👌
Found the solution here: https://lemmy.one/post/81779
Update: The new link works in neither Connect or Jerboa, but !yt_explainers@lemmy.link seems to work in Jerboa now, if properly wrapped in link markup. Still doesn't work in Connect, which just says "Can't find user".
~~Just tried again, this time on desktop, no dice 😔
If I go to Search and type in '!yt_explainers@lemmy.link', I just get two comments (yours included) from this thread as a result. If I go to lemmy.link, I don't have an account so can't subscribe.~~

I believe Beehaw defederated from Lemmy.link, however they haven't said anything to me privately or publicly. The most recent post from a Lemmy.link community on Beehaw is over 3 days old. Beehaw is very serious about their curation/moderation and local communities, so I was not surprised to see them defederate. Unfortunately I think you'll need to hop instances if you want to sub to any of Lemmy.link's communities.
oh, yeah, this got lost in the shuffle because things are really hectic now but tl;dr the sheer firehose of content + the lack of curation are dealbreakers for federation here. it's not a personal judgement either--we also defed with lemmit, which mirrors content similarly. just way too much to deal with for us, but we do see the value of the project for other people lol
Ah, that explains a lot, thanks 😅
