Just in case, consider that "costume" has been probably used because that's the word in Ukrainian "ะšะพัั‚ัŽะผ" (read almost the same as the English word, but with the accent on the u).

I found funnier when he said, "maybe something better".

I know that. Translating into that is fun, but really his reply is perfect as a whole. Doesn't matter which way it's translated, the meaning is loud and clear.
