Thanks, that tracks with what I've seen so far and discussions like these have helped me understand this whole thing a bit better. My first foray was a bit confusing because I initially joined on sh.itjust.works but tried to browse a community on beehaw, not knowing about the defederation, which isn't too obvious for a newcomer.
