Big brain tech dude got yet another clueless take over at HackerNews etc? Here's the place to vent. Orange site, VC foolishness, all welcome.

We’re testing SearchGPT, a prototype of new search features designed to combine the strength of our AI models with information from the web to give you fast and timely answers with clear and relevant sources.

this is the most wishy washy distinction from chatgpt as a thing. Blatant throwing-shit-at-us-to-see-what-we-eat

Sam and the truly talented team at OpenAI innately understand that for AI-powered search to be effective, it must be founded on the highest-quality, most reliable information furnished by trusted sources...

Robert Thomson, Chief Executive, News Corp

Mmm yes, I too turn to News corp for the highest quality, most reliable information.

Using ChatGPT as a search engine is a thing despite the hallucinations mainly because Google broke their search with adwords. Now OpenAI wants to break its own search by selling ranking apparently.

Hearing people use ChatGPT to search for things and believing it just blows my mind. I'm talking about intelligent folks that I know very well; but go and question the bullshit engine and suddenly it's like I'm talking to old people about politics. It's just impossible to get through and it's killing me.
