Ok, go over to the Timex website, and start looking through their whole catalog. They are low priced, and more importantly most of them are smaller sized. Timex is a solid starter brand, and they have a lot of variety. If you find a style of watch you like the look of on their website, Google it and look through some of the other options different brands have for that style of watch. You probably don't want to start out with a 'just get this one watch' recommendation, you should look through a variety and find a style you like. If you find a watch you like but it is too big for you, don't be afraid to look and see if they have a women's version of the watch. If there is a women's version it's often almost exactly the same, just in smaller sizes, and nobody will know. Don't be afraid to get a quartz or solar watch if that's what you like, mechanical movements are something watch nerds really like because they're intricate and beautiful, but if you're just looking for a one watch collection and aren't super into watches there's nothing wrong with a quartz watch. Also, if you find a watch face you like but you don't like the strap, you can easily switch straps to dress the watch up or down, it takes about three minutes, and watch straps are cheap. If you swap a metal band for a leather one the watch will wear more fancy, and if you swap the metal for a nylon one it'll be more sporty and casual. Good luck!
