I cringe out of my skin whenever someone calls a luxury automatic watch a "tool watch" or balks at a watch because of water resistance or something similar. If you want an actual "took watch" just buy a fucking G Shock. Automatics are, predominately, men's jewelery these days, and it's OK to embrace that.
‘Sir, here is your $10,000 Rolex Explorer, it epitomises the tool watch, rugged, ultra cool and ready for anything’…. ‘Oh these white gloves I’m wearing? Yeah I just don’t want to scratch it, it is after all a tool watch’
"Hey guys, I'm looking for a new watch to add to my cOlLecTiOn. I want to spend Max of 2k. It needs to be a true tool watch that can stand up to rough wear and has 300m of water resistance. No quartz, please. What do I do for a living? Oh, I'm a software engineer. No, I don't go diving, why do you ask?"
