Hilariouschaos.com is now selectively federating! We are no longer a stand-alone instance, so if you are interested, come check us out or dm me any questions.

Thank you, and have a good day !

I'd describe myself as politically "center-left" and I go on the streets against the far-right in my country... Not "left" enough for the lemmy community hexbear(.)net, I guess, which banned me for "facism".

"Advertisement": Go to hexbear(.)net if you want to be able to say "Death to Israel" or "The situation in Gaza is like the holocaust" without getting banned. No, you even get a lot of likes and no one will say anything against that. No one will share arguments against yours. Why? Because those people will instead get banned.

At least, I have an explanation now... There is no one arguing against what is posted there, because everyone who tries, is getting banned.

You may ask yourself, Why is this instance so bad? Here are the reasons:

  • No backups
  • Terrible internet connection (1mb/s up and down)
  • Many fake download buttons
  • Ill shut it down without warning my users if I dont like it anymore
  • No redundancy
  • weird domain
  • Ugh

Reasons why you may like it:

  • Im too lazy to sell ur personal data

Have fun

No local content, but we run several seeder scripts to keep the All feed nice and populated. Sensible rules, minimal censorship, and we're even guaranteed on Fediseer! We also host the alternative front-end Photon at https://photon.frozeninferno.xyz.

Come hang out and lurk, or make the next hit community, whatever you like! Just be sure to fully read the application question when registering, we deny all applications that don't follow instructions.

A small instance with a sense of humor.

Vaguely dedicated to creating niche curated lists of only the "best" content.

Finally got my server to a very stable place, and ready to start accepting sign ups.

I have set up an instance to host an unofficial community centered around the cryptocurrency Nano (XNO): https://nano.garden

The purpose of the instance is to have a space in the lemmyverse to discuss the Nano cryptocurrency project and the community projects being built around it.

I want to play around with the integration of nano into the fediverse, but I don't want to do this in an invasive manner, so I've set up an instance to try to build some of these tools directly into the UI without inconveniencing others. Anyone else who needs an instance to try out their own nano-related inventions is more than welcome to try them out here. You may consider it a nano-playground in the Lemmyverse.

I chose Nano for this because I know that there are many open source projects related to 'tipping bots' and faucets, transfers are very fast and free, and the community that I've encountered is nice. I also found out that there is already a nano tipping button implemented in a mastodon instance, and I may draw some inspiration from that: https://xno.social/home

No supremacy or xenophobia, just a space for Nordfolk to talk about things that concerns the Nordics more than other parts of the world.

We're always bombarded with US defaultism everywhere. And I don't know about others, but I miss a space where people use the metric system, and topics pertaining to flora and fauna don't default to North America. Anglo politics are particularly wearisome.

It would be a space for Nordic communities, native languages and cultures. It's hard for smaller cultures to compete against other dominant cultures, especially on a global level but also European ones.

Is there interest in setting something like this up?

Looking for collaborators to create a new instance of Lemmy. Among other things this instance will differ from existing ones by having a self-governing structure. Check out the rough draft for a full vision of this community.

I finally got around to setting up the e-mails correctly for my instance (mander.xyz) and noticed that the e-mail deliver-ability is awful, as I get heavily penalized by spam filters for having an .xyz domain. I would not be surprised if search engines penalize this too.

It is not a simple task to change a domain name for an instance without breaking federation, so once you have a federating instance you are are stuck with that domain name.

I would not recommend picking an .xyz domain for your instances unless you intend it to be a private instance forever. If possible, try to go for a .com, or some other more standard TLD!

In an effort to move community communication (announcements and discussion) away from Big Tech and protect users from generalized monitoring, I just set up this instance and am already excited about lemmy! It's extremely fast and seems to be very robust.

Is there a tool to import all previous posts (r/splitlinux)?

Sortition, back in some of the old greek citystates, they would simply draw lots for political offices. Essentially meaning random people get to be mod. This is meant as a way to limit corruption.

By divine graphology. Meaning that candidate mod write something with pen on paper, and a council of divinely inspired priests judge the aptitude, character, skill, and more based on the writing (not the text, the strokes themselves). This would probably lead to a society with incredibly pretty (and probably illegible) handwriting.

Anigarchy. The original founder of the instance rules absolutely, this remains possible long after their death, through shamans who are able to communicate with the souls of the dead.

Reincarnation, like the dalai lama, the same person is continually reincarnated in new bodies to continue their rule.

The method of the least willing. There is an addage about the best leaders being the ones who don't want the job. Why not turn that into the basis of your mod hunting?

Actual anarchy hive mind, no mods content removed once it gets reported enough
