So i was looking around some stuff and discovered AssaultCube, i do remember hearing it's open source so i thought that topic might fit here (feel free to correct me if i am wrong)

I have been wanting to try that for sometime now but was worried if the game was dead or not (i won't mind if the playerbase is small or big, all i care about is if there's servers still running and if there's still people in it) and this might be a dumb question to ask since idk if there's any AssaultCube players or if there is even anyone here that knows it's existence but is the game alive at all? if not, are there alternatives that are more active? (AssaultCube-like or not, just any open source shooter game will do fine and i've already tried xonotic, good game and will play that again sometime lol)

Title says it all, while supertuxkart can actually be pretty fun.. i was curious to see if there were other ones aswell considering from what i remember, there was alot of games that are open source (also try xonotic, that game was fun as hell)

hope this post fits this community since i thought video games are just another type of software in some way (but if it isn't, feel free to correct me if i am wrong as it would be greatly appreciated for the future)

But yeah feel free to drop any suggestions related to racing games, thanks!!

2024-11-06 by GIMP Team

We are very excited to share the first release candidate for the long-awaited GIMP 3.0! We’ve been hard at work since our last development update to get this ready, and we’re looking forward to everyone finally being able to see the results.

So, what exactly is a “release candidate” (RC)? A release candidate is something that might be ready to be GIMP 3.0, but we want the larger community to test it first and report any problems they find. If user feedback reveals only small and easy to fix bugs, we will solve those problems and issue the result as GIMP 3.0. However, we hope and expect a much larger audience to try out 3.0 RC1 - including many people who have only been using 2.10 up until now. If larger bugs and regressions are uncovered that require more substantial code changes, we may need to publish a second release candidate for further testing.

Over the last few years, there has been a surge in interest and adoption of generative artificial intelligence systems, and a corresponding interest in clarifying and delineating what open source should mean for AI and how to ensure AI serves the public interest. The DPGA Secretariat has been an active part of these conversations. Recognizing the transformative potential of AI, we have explored ways to democratise its benefits, advocating for public spending on AI that prioritises public interest and equitable access. Additionally, we have been examining how the DPG Standard may need to adapt in order to better determine what constitutes AI systems as a type of digital public good, via a community of practice (CoP), co-hosted by UNICEF.

This work has been unfolding against a backdrop of other initiatives and organisations similarly addressing complex questions surrounding the future development and use of artificial intelligence in the public interest domain. One such particularly important initiative has been the work to define open source AI stewarded by the Open Source Initiative (OSI) with the involvement of a large number of stakeholders and experts. After a two year long process the Open Source AI Definition (OSAID) Version 1.0 was released on October 28.

Hi all, we’re building an open-source, self-hostable alternative to platforms like Klaviyo, Braze, and Mailchimp.

The core functionality of the platform includes a user segmentation builder, low-code email template editor, and low-code drag-and-drop journey builder for creating automated messaging workflows. Right now, fully supported channels are email, SMS, and webhook, with mobile push under development.

Does anyone know of an Android app for measuring decibels/loudness/volume?

I only need to measure sounds relatively, so it doesn't need to be accurate.

Postiz is an open-source social media scheduling tool that is similar to traditional ones: Buffer, Hootsuite, SproutSocial, etc.

https://github.com/gitroomhq/postiz-app/

Postiz supports:

Key features:

  • Schedule for nine social media platforms (Threads, Pinterest, Facebook, TikTok, Reddit, LinkedIn, Dribbble, YouTube, Instagram.)

  • Fundamental analytics for almost all social media platforms.

  • AI Features: Copilots, AI Auto-complete, Canva-like editor.

  • Team support: Invite your team members to manage social media.

  • Generic Email Provider & Easier installation experience (drop the default Resend and add a nodemailer option!)

  • There are lots of improvements for the docker / docker-compose. It's much easier to deploy everything!

  • Added Bluesky, Mastodon, Slack and Discord channels!

  • Add multiple options for upload files (locally / R2) - working on S3.

  • Improve the refresh token mechanism (even for more complicated ones like Facebook and Instagram)

  • Invite to a team has significant fixes but will be refactored.

What's next:

  • Postiz is a company run by one person and contributors. Accessing all the support tickets (especially installation) is difficult, so I will focus all my efforts on making installation easier.

  • Productivity - many things feel bad when posting, like selecting multiple images and pasting images directly into the editor.

  • Basic SSO for the self-hosters, and more advanced ones like Azure AD and Okta for the enterprise.

  • Public API (unfortunately, I decided to make this feature paid; I need to make money somehow :/ )

  • Tagging brands on Instagram

  • Segmenting accounts into customers

  • Tagging people on multiple platforms

  • Tagging posts for easier searches

  • Auto-plug features, like automatic repost / retweet.

I am looking for an FOSS alternative to InqScribe that will work on Linux. InqScribe is software used for making transcripts of audio. It essentially allows you to have an audio file and text beside each other and make timestamps in the text based on the audio playing. I don't need anything fancier than that.

Hello to all. Lately I've been receiving a lot of spam calls under private number. Is there a way to block them? Any app?

Can anyone recommend a simple and noob/nonprofessional-friendly cross-platform app for simple graphic design and photography uses?

I normally recommend GIMP for this but for some people who I help with their projects it's overkill and not worth learning for infrequent use.

What can I recommend/teach such people to use, which is more stripped back?

Common use cases are putting together basic flyers & ads, restaurant menus, cropping photos etc.

A group of people including Drew DeVault are trying to cancel RMS again, basing their claims on ancient misinterpreted quotes. Stallman may be controversial, but these activists are just acid for the entire Free Software movement.
