Been playing a lot of Baldur’s Gate this week and it really got me in the mood to make something a bit more fantasy-oriented!

Hello Vonnie is an illustrator from the Netherlands who makes colorful illustrations of relaxed and chilled out characters. She works both with sketchbooks and tablets, though finds sketching more freeing. While her characters aim for a relaxed vibe, she considers herself a chronic worrier. She recently launched an online shop selling prints and stickers. Her dream project would be creating ceramic works or a huge mural using her characters. She advises other illustrators to find joy in what they make and the rest will come with time.

If this turns out to be good I'm gonna keep it in my back pocket for the next time I have a psych patient who really likes to creatively write (...and is also not actively detached from reality LOL)

Roll a 6-sided die 12 times

This is the pixelfed album.

This is the google sheet (idk how else to make a set of 6 tables vision-impairment friendly)

  • What's your theme?
  • What's your plot?
  • Who's your hero?
  • Who's your villain?
  • Who's your side character?
  • What's your wild card?
  • ...what're you doing with it?

This was my first time burning on wood I hadn't sanded to at least a 1k grit, because I wanted to have a bit of the kerf showing on the finished pieces. Wood is reclaimed HT oak pallet board (don't ever burn on chemically treated woods).

This is a classic that's been in my favorites for ages.

In 1981, HBO hired Liberty Studios to produce a new program opener. The result was "HBO in Space". The original and variations of it were used by HBO in varying degrees for over a decade.

"A Closer Look: Inside HBO's City" is a 10 min behind-the-scenes look at the months long endeavor that gives a glimpse of the whole process: storyboarding the idea, designing a cardboard mockup to run the camera through and see what needed work, creating the city diorama, constructing and animating the HBO logo itself—both physically and with effects, and the final filming.

I always loved behind-the-scenes stuff growing up and still do today. I'm pretty sure getting the occasional peak at this kind of thing played a part in getting me into design.

plus its got that 80s vibe from the clothes to the clunky computers and a delightfully cheesy sounding 80's soundtrack 😎

Morgott was one of the Demigods born of Godfrey, First Elden Lord, and Queen Marika. However, he and his brother Mohg were both cursed as Omens and hidden deep beneath Leyndell in the Shunning Grounds. When the Shattering occurred, his Demigod kin scattered to the winds, absconding with the fragments of the Elden Ring. Only he stood stalwart in Leyndell, repelling invading forces that sought the ancient city and the Elden Ring within the Erdtree's holy sanctum. For Morgott, cursed as he was, had unshaking faith, and a righteousness to hold firm against any adversity, whether by demigod or by ambitious tarnished.

I make collages and word posters from vintage and retro illustrations and images in the public domain. Here's my latest piece, 'J is for Journey'.

Had a lot of fun making this one, a lot of good words that begin with J 😊

The nomadic merchants once roamed widely in the Lands Between as the "Great Caravan." However, long ago, they were accused of Heresy. Their clan, far and wide, was rounded up and buried alive deep below the earth. In their terror and sorrow, they chanted a fateful curse of despair, one that conjured forth the Frenzied Flame. A prophesy self-fulfilled perhaps. Now, only those few merchants far flung and hidden away from the prying eyes of the Golden Order live on, day by day, doing what they have to to survive after the Shattering.

I’m reading Demon Copperhead and I’ve only just realised that it’s based on David Copperfield by Charles Dickens. Somehow, I feel cheated. I hated Dickens in school - melodramatic claptrap - but it does explain the ‘serial’ feel of the book. It’s a clever book, the characters are credible, going beyond characterisation (another of my pet Dickens’ peeves.) And the writing is beautiful, wonderful imagery etc.

I know there’s nothing new under the sun and all tales are variations on a theme. This book, though, barely even changes the characters’ names.

I’m so disappointed. I don’t know what to think. And I’ve lost interest in finishing the book. Have you read it? What are your thoughts? #books #PulitzerPrize #lazywriting #writers

Miquella was cursed with eternal childhood. Perhaps immortality might be a boon for others, but it was a burden for the Empyrean. Perhaps thanks to his curse, however, Miquella learned well how to compel affection, and to lead others. His ambitions would lead him to look outside the Golden Order to cure his sister Malenia, and to found an Erdtree of his own, the Haligtree, where those outcast from the Order could find unity. Through the Haligtree, he would rebirth himself into a new body, circumventing his curse. But, alas, before his metamorphosis was complete, he was stolen away by Mohg, who sought to use his Empyrean blood to found a dynasty under the Formless Mother.

I finished my tunic! (pixelfed.social)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by Cipher to c/creative

I finished my tunic over the weekend!

The pattern is Men's Tunic from Wardrobe By Me. The fabric is an extremely thin linen rayon blend my local fabric store called Blueberry Dreams. The fabric weight is surrealistically thin, and the drape is extremely fluid.

I've legitimately never had a shirt that felt this luxurious. It should be a welcome addition in the broiling weather.

Malenia was born cursed as a vessel of the Scarlet Rot, a rotting plague that not even Golden Order Fundamentalism was unable to cure. Her brother, Miquella, sought a cure beyond the Order, while Malenia sought to serve her brother's ambitions. She learned swordsmanship from a blue-robed master, likely the same figure who had sealed the outer god of rot to begin with. And, in the end, she became one of the greatest warriors in the Lands Between, and only met her match with Radahn, which triggered her to "bloom" reducing Caelid into a wasteland and creating the Swamp of Aeonia. Then again at the Haligtree. And a third time in her fateful meeting with a wayward Tarnished.

A dark Sci-Fi scene made in Blender and Photoshop. I generated the silhouette of the running woman using DALL.E and then cleaned it up in Photoshop - much easier than drawing the silhouette, Googling for ages to find the right image, or just posing a character in the scene, which would have also been slower and more intensive when rendering.

Pretty happy with this one!
