Not much to be said here. Just unfortunate that they're only being found now.

Piece by The Alberta Worker detailing the inaccuracies in the UCP's claims that the party is leading the fight against inflation.

3

Article from CBC detailing how Dr. Hinshaw was offered a position with the Indigenous health team, causing the resignation of Indiginous Wellness Core senior medical director Dr. Esther Tailfeathers.

4

Piece by CBC detailing the flooding in Edson, Yellowhead County, and Whitecourt.

For me, I would have to say Kananaskis. I really enjoyed being there with the Tim Horton's Children's Ranch ages back, and I still remember we did a lot of things in the area that were incredibly fun.

Whitewater rafting on the Kananaskis River was great, and we went hiking along a path that had incredible waterfalls and an amazing view at the top of the trail. Would absolutely go there again if I ever had the opportunity.

Short piece by the Alberta Worker detailing how carpenters in alberta won a new wage increase.

7

Interesting piece by CBC describing how realtors are turning their eyes to TikTok and Instagram in order to make more sales in Alberta.

8

A lengthly and in-depth piece by The Breach highlighting how lobbyists have made their way into the Alberta NDP, and how they're already influencing the direction of the party.

The piece also touches on the federal NDP as well.

9

Opinion piece by Geoffrey Picketts describing how the election results, especially those in Calgary where the UCP underperformed compared to conservative parties past, are detailing a change in voter's politics, especially considering the results of the past four municipal elections in Calgary.

Mask mandates are due to lift in Alberta hospitals come Monday. This CBC article details a specific case with an immunocompromised person feeling wary about the upcoming change.

I'm not an expert of course, but it seems that perhaps this is an alright move to make in my book. Want to know what the others here think however.

A piece from CBC detailing the lack of diversity in Danielle Smith's legislative cabinet, which seems alarming just based on the photo of the recent press conference alone.

While I definitely think that Notley's leadership should be questioned and challenged considering the shortcoming of the NDP in this election, I'm really curious and unsure about who would come in to take her place.

A good piece by the Alberta Worker detailing how the jobless rate has remained stagnant, going so far as to give a thorough breakdown of jobs gained and lost in specific sectors, and part time and full time positions.

Hi everyone!

I know I usually post news articles here, but in order to add some variety to the mix, I'm going to try and add some discussion posts every now and again so it's less of a reposting of my newsfeed, and more along the lines of a community sharing various topics about the province.

I just wanted to say I'm shocked about the growth of the community in the last two weeks. While part of that has definitely been because of the stuff going on with Reddit, I really didn't expect the amount of people subscribed to the community to triple.

I'm looking forward to seeing the community grow more, and genuinely am thankful to all of you who have subscribed to the community so far, as it means a lot.

If you want to see more Alberta-related content, definitely check out our equivalent community on Lemmy.ca as well!

A very in-depth journalistic report from The Tyee about not only the failures and shortcomings of the provincial government to prevent ecological disasters relating to the oil sands, but how they actively reversed regulations designed to prevent them from happening.

A report from CBC stating that voter turnout had dropped a staggering eight percent or so from the previous election in 2019. Leads one to question what would have been different if the turnout had been higher.

Interesting stats about vehicle theft in the province, and how the cases that happen in Alberta differ quite a bit from the cases that happen out east especially.

18

A good article describing how job creation has been slower in Alberta compared to other provinces. Among the things it showcases is how ineffective the UCP's Job Creation Tax Cut has been.

19

A bit late posting this, but an article from CBC detailing how the wildfire situation has improved, and how the state of emergency has been lifted on Saturday.

20

An article detailing how Danielle Smith's plan to force addictions treatment on people is not only ineffective, but is also likely to harm those that are mandated to be treated.

Big win for Local 424 with seeing a wage increase for workers in the Electrical Contractors Association of Alberta.

22

An article from CBC detailing how the UCP win in Alberta could lead to clashes between the federal government, and the provincial governments of Alberta and Saskatchewan over energy policy.

23

A good breakdown of the election results in Alberta, and what's to be expected going forward.

An article from the Alberta Worker explains that over the last decade from 2013, the average pay in Alberta has dropped when adjusted for inflation, especially since 2020, having one of the worst increases over that timeframe. This while the province has one of the highest average costs of living.

Scary story about how Take Back Alberta has plans to try serving as "scrutineers" at voting locations tomorrow on election day, and how they also plan on getting involved within Elections Alberta and other instituions as well.
