Vampire Survivor is def a good recommendation, though I also have to mention Deep Rock Galactic!
It has a great gameplay loop that always stays fresh due to the four different classes and the procedurally generated levels. It has both solo and co-op, and both are fun in their own way. Plus it has the most positive online community I've ever come across which is a nice bonus. It's on sale for the summer sale of you wanna check it out.

Personally, I like to follow specific journalist and news orgs that report on topics I'm interested in. That def helps with the breaking news aspect. Besides following talented shitposters like dril ofc.

I actually only recently picked up some of the dlc's cause they were on sale for like $2.50 a pop. Though they really are just cosmetics. I'd also put in enough hours into the game, where I felt pretty good about essentially donating to the dev's.
