I'm not sure, since I had the post open and read through the article/comments before writing mine. But maybe it's the same bug that impacts both commenting and opening the selected post.
I’ve been to places that had free municipal wifi, mostly at libraries and bus stops. It seems like a small service that is generally helpful to people without access to their own wifi. I think the better solution is to have more places with free wifi at night so people don’t have to congregate in the one small area.
There aren’t many places the unhoused are allowed to exist in public and cutting them off from essential services only makes it harder for them to better their situation.
Super weird. Not sure how that happened. I've heard there was a bug in Lemmy adds the comment to the wrong post, but first time it's happened to me. 🙃
She didn't steal your shoe. She just claimed a nice, smelly chew toy that is rightfully hers.
Ah the joys of customers having unrealistic expectations. A short snippet of an extended conversation today.
PM: We have to get this done in the next sprint
Dev team: That's not technically feasible. We need a minimum of 4-5 just for development.
PM: That's not acceptable to Customer. We have to get it done sooner than that.
Dev team: Unfortunately that's the soonest we can get it done.
PM: Customer will leave over this if we can't get it done sooner.
Dev team: Well...it's still not feasible to do it any faster.
This went on for at least an hour.
The best part is this functionality the customer is demanding has a very real chance of taking down the entire system when they start using it as intended and the powers that be still didn't tell them to eff off.
Have you analyzed what about job hunting specifically is giving you anxiety? EG is it a fear of rejection, something about compiling your life onto a CV, something else I can't think of?
I don't think any advice will be helpful unless you can identify what it is that is causing the anxiety.
I would eat the fuck out of that! It looks delicious
I really like #4 and #6. I could see using one of those with the LW superimposed on top of the globe.
Milestone Wednesday (?):
I now have enough to support spending to cover my expenses from when I first moved out my parents house for my first job. Congratulations past me for finally reaching FIRE.
Of course due to lifestyle inflation and regular inflation, I still have quite a ways to go to reach enough to cover my current expenses
Hopefully a decent group of people stay here. Of course, having a smaller group is kind of nice.
It would be nice if someone technically inclined could figure out a way to automate the daily thread so no one has to remember to start one manually each day.
Fun! Where are you planning to visit in Colorado?
So we should take away something that is necessary to someone helping themselves (have you tried to apply for a job or take a class without using the internet recently, it's required), just because some people don't care about living in squalor?
If all they are doing is "loitering" to use the internet, then they aren't doing anything wrong. It sounds like the problem is simply the number of people and the neighbors didn't approve. In that case, the truly win/win option is to provide greater access points to free wifi so people don't have to congregate in one small area. This outcome only hurts people.
