Good point, I saw this on their FAQ page too, not sure if it could explain some.

Well I just found an Decentralized social platform called WireMin.
They claim they are for 100% censorship resistance &100%Privacy due to its decentralized structure.
Somehow decentralized can acheive that right? I mean no censorship.
DM, blog posting, no censorship plz
I found it hard to get interaction

A correction/clarification for those people who are trying to find freedom of speech on Fediverse,
as Nate says, nothing on the Fediverse is private.
Because everything is transparent, and they all link to your personal email address.
Freedom of speech on Fediverse is still limted cuz it is not private, and still has moderator.
Remember, Freedom can't exist without Privacy.
I even ask their customer service about this "no single entity controlling it"
