This is news to me. Where'd you hear that?

I'm sorry, but am I the only one that's bothered by those Threads graphics they keep using for their marketing? All those ribbons and stuff flying around like that just seems so bizarre.

Probably a good idea. Weren't there some studies that showed people dont like walking around with TVs on their head?

Does this apply at all to Lemmy users, or is this just internal?

I think the upvote/downvote system on Lemmy is probably the least transparent of them all. They aren't associated with any individual account. And AFAICT, you can't even see which posts you yourself have upvoted/downvoted. 🤷

You went to a site thats literally a hub of porn. What did you expect to see? A group of nuns?

This is crazy but Pornhub's response to this is pretty funny. They don't like the new law. But instead of taking it out on lawmakers they take it out on their users. And throw other porn sites (who are in the same business to help advocate) under the bus too. This can't be a smart move.

Is this even new though? Google has always had a stronghold over any public data on the internet. It's a search engine 😄. It's sole purpose is to scrape and store everything it possibly can on the web.

Why aren’t there alternative hostable Lemmy frontends?

Likely because no one is working on it. But there most certainly can be alternative frontends.

I would love this but PWAs are only possible through the browser. And Apple forces its Safari browser on all iOS users. So unless Apple is forced to not push its Safari browser on its users, PWAs won't likely be mainstream.

True. Hopefully not just Bluesky but all user-generated platforms are built on the fediverse. It's just gonna take a lot of time to catch on. The fediverse isnt easy to use for a lot of the non-techies. But getting better!
