The US police force is full of sociopaths. But I like to believe that there are at least a few sincere officers in there. They are the ones who are really going to pay for such acts. The Capitol Hill insurrection is a good example.

Eh? Isn't that the point of putting pressure in the first place?

Surprise! Surprise! UP, of all the states to revolt against the BJP! Who saw this coming! 😆

PS: Funny meltdown in progress. Chaddis calling UPians anti-nationals and anti-Hindu. And UPians retorting by asking them to go to Pakistan instead! 🤣

From what I could gather from UPians of Reddit, the Ayodhya temple stunt backfired. They were already unhappy due to unemployment. This is due to schemes like Agnipath, reduction in UPSC allotments etc. Instead of tackling that, the government went on vanity projects like the temple, airport, express highway etc. BJP never talked about unemployment, starvation, etc even during the rallies. Instead, every single speech was about Muslims, Mughals and mangalsutra.

And to rub it in their face, a lot of locals were displaced or even made homeless in the process of making the temple. The real benefactors of the real estate deals were Gujjus, not the locals. Even the local priests were not spared - they were replaced by Gujju pandits. Making it worse, the ads for the temple featured our supreme leader in a bigger size than lord Ram himself. People realized the true intentions hidden behind the temple construction.

Another factor was the Dalit treatment. BJP was vocally against reservation, while simultaneously increasing caste privileges, discriminations and violence significantly. To increase those worries, there were cases like Hathras, another one a few days back and numerous unreported ones where a Dalit woman/girl was gang raped, tortured and murdered by UCs. Not only did the government help the criminals escape, in most cases, they decimated the entire families of the victims. Crimes against them were reaching genocidal proportions. Dalits have a significant share of UP's population. Their collective realization that BJP is going to harm them was a significant driver here.

And finally, this failure (not defeat) is seen as Amit Shah's fault, not Yogi's. Apparently, Yogi's suggestions for the candidates were overruled by Shah, who fielded unpopular candidates. UPians say that Shah is tone deaf towards the ground realities there.

I can understand the hate towards the rich. But saying that the poor is given freebies is a bit condescending. Try living their life - you'll certainly appreciate the privileges of being middle class. The poor are also not poor because they're lazy or they live on freebies. Being poor is a vicious cycle. They don't have the resources to seek out opportunities, in turn denying them resources. That's why social benefit programs exist - to break that cycle.

Profound economic consequences for whom? Let's see...

But the global nature of the fertility slump means that, by the middle of the century, the world is likely to face a dearth of young educated workers unless something changes.

As expected! The greedy rich slave drivers are worried that they won't have enough slaves from the next generation, as a consequence of their economic exploitation of the current generation of slaves.

People would be having more children if they didn't have to work their a** off just to survive. Perhaps they should start by avoiding wage-theft, overzealous rent-seeking and price-gouging.

I support India taking the entirety of J&K. The Pakistanis would naturally make the same claim. However, what's really worrying is that these morons are talking nonchalantly about starting an all out nuclear war. Even the Pakistani leadership is more sensible than that. Indian citizens should at some point think about the best interests of the nation than about an overinflated nationalistic pride.

On the other hand, it's not economically sustainable for the railways to cater to basic sleeper and seater tickets as those are heavily subsidized.

Some activities like public transport and food supply are not run for the purpose of making profits. They are essential services for the common man and for the rest of the economy. Due to this, their economic values cannot be estimated simply by looking at the profits they generate. Without them, we stand to lose a lot more.

Lack of such concern and vision is why the government makes such ridiculous decisions.

I wish they undid a lot of their stupid redesigns instead of doubling down on it.

The fact any board of directors considers this man employable at all is mind boggling to me.

All recent events indicate that the board of directors are seriously manipulated by the chief executive and are not good at taking sane decisions. Musk companies, OpenAI and Theranos are good examples.

As I recall, there was a board meeting of Theranos where they summoned Elizabeth Holmes to fire her for misleading them about the state of development of the project. But she managed to get them to reverse that decision and then take action against the person that reported her.
