Lol, now I kind of wish you hadn't. The subreddit I got this from is private and it got enough attention to get me banned for leaking. Whelp...

I don't really know it's worth a new post, because I don't think this information really changes what we will see happen, which is realistically three things:

  1. Subs that didn't commit to an indefinite protest are already coming back online, like /r/technology. Admins will be happy with that and do nothing.
  2. Subs that did commit to an indefinite protest but didn't do so unanimously will have lower mods reach out to Admins to get higher mods removed, and open the subs back up. This is what happened with Advice Animals.
  3. Subs that did commit to an indefinite protest and did do so unanimously will have old mod teams removed and new mod teams put in. If they do this, they will probably do it later, and while there may be some uproar, anybody who really cares about this by then will probably have already left reddit.

The fact that it was not super common previously doesn't mean it won't become more common, especially as precedent was set year ago.

Here is some additional context from an actual Mod of AdviceAnimals:

[Deleted]

I've inquired if they're the one that phoned the Admins, but no reply yet. Having a top mod removed due to them unilaterally taking a sub private is not unprecedented, but it is an incredibly rare action.

EDIT: That user has confirmed they did not contact the Admins, and don't know who did, but that is still consistent with actions taken by Admins in the past to remove an absentee top moderator that made a unilateral move more active mods disagreed with.

Andrewsmith is right,

As he often is. That guy knows more about Reddit than Huffman does. Hope he moves to Lemmy.

It's supposed to be a lemur.

It should be, but isn't, and given the circumstances would not uncalled for for Trump.

Also, he is charged. I assume you mean convicted?

I'm so glad I built a new PC for this. But with only a 2070 that's not as much margin as I'd want.

Makers and consumers. At one point an Admin, I think it was Alexis or Yashan, said straight up like 50% of reddit is porn. That was years ago though, and I'm sure they've done what they could to mitigate that.

Reddit? Paying mods? As if.

They've gone 15 years not paying mods for their work. They're not about to start now, especially if they're concerned about costs.

Sealing the vehicle appears to have been another challenge, which is an important element for keeping both weather and noise out of the cabin. “There are a number of areas that we do not have a clear path to sealing,” the documents reportedly says.

Holy shit. I actually know a thing or two about this, and I'm very curious how they ended up in that kind of situation. It's got to either be they manufacture the vehicle in such a way it's difficult for robots to reach the welds, or... I wonder if they didn't think they'd need to seal at all???

Eh, to be fair, in 2019 Rivian was as much of a force as Tesla was. That year Tesla only had a Cybertruck prototype, but so did Rivian - in fact, they unveiled theirs two years prior in 2017. It then took them three years to stand up their factory and begin mass production, which they've done.

The Cybertruck isn't really too comparatively behind schedule relative to Rivian. It's not like Tesla had spare capacity at their existing factories, so they also needed to build a new one.

Elon probably thought he could save a lot of time by building a truck that didn't need a full paintshop, and easy to stamp and weld in body shop. Of course, despite the added cost of complex steel/aluminum body panels and paint shops, these are well understood processes, with literally hundreds of thousands of people familiar with them in North America. Comparatively few know how to make a stainless steel vehicle.
