Not OP, but IME the breading tends to fall off when they're chopped and moved around a bunch, but if you mix sliced air fried ones in at the very end that'd probably turn out pretty well.

Yeah! Those nuggets are my go to quick protein snack. And cholesterol free, to boot.

BRB, gonna make some nuggets now...

Awesome response, and a great succinct postmortem. Thanks for doing what you do!

If done via hacked admin credentials, this is a great advertisement for enabling 2FA anywhere it's supported. AIUI Lemmy is also getting support for this for user accounts soon (https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/2363)

Thanks, I appreciate it - looks like I've got some bedtime reading for awhile :)

This is interesting and something I've not heard of - can you recommend a starter link for someone with a basic stats background? I had some in undergrad, but this sounds like a topic that could get very tinfoil-hat-y if not searched correctly and with good context.

You've done awesome with this instance. It's great to hear you're taking a break and paying attention to burnout - it's not all on you, so take the time you need to center yourself and get your mojo back. We'll be waiting, but not in the creepy or stressful way hopefully ^^

The "S" in "IOT" stands for security.

I mean... it can still be cancer causing despite being hard to avoid. If it's impossible to avoid ("breathing probably cancer-causing") then I could see the argument. But all-nighters and red meat are pretty avoidable for a sizable fraction - maybe not all - of people who are in that group.

Hello recycling friend!

I've been doing some bottle glass recycling of my own. Started with simple wax candles in bottles with the tops cut off, now moving into fusing and slumping (requires a kiln). For that I've been crushing bottles into frit, then spreading them into a ceramic mold brushed with kiln wash, then running the kiln up to ~1500F to fuse the glass together before cooling slowly. They make kilns you can use in a microwave, but I recommend one with a digital control - costs typically over $1k if you buy new, cheaper if you can find one on craigslist :)

In my experience, engraving isn't too hard on the glass as long as you're roughing up the surface and not going too deep. You can buy diamond coated Dremel sanding bits to smooth the sharp edges. I'd avoid high heat as uncontrolled cooling can build internal stress and cause the glass to shatter months/years down the road.

I'd recommend a vinyl cutter for making stencils, and sand blaster for roughing the unmasked area - you can find cutters on sale for ~$100 off eBay/Amazon with a small but useful cut area. They're much faster and more precise than going by hand.

I for one welcome the long furby renaissance.

I recently bought a trash picker and have been meaning to pick up trash at times when I'm already walking to somewhere - this post is a good motivation to actually bring it along next time. Thanks :)

I DIY'd a hydroponic tower, and I suspect not having grow lights made it more likely for mold to grow (and less likely for tasty greens).

I'm installing some grow lights and will do a deep clean, but do y'all think the current crop is edible? There's no mold on the plants, only in the coconut coir...

I recently acquired a stainless steel conical fermenter as a long-desired upgrade to my brewing setup - I've been using 5gal plastic carboys until now, but I wanted to move away from them as I'm a bit leery of plastics leaching out while stuff sits in there for months at a time.

Does anyone here have experience with stainless fermenters? I'm especially interested in any cleaning tips and changes to flavor I should expect. Thanks in advance :)

Hi everyone! Figured I'd introduce myself to the community by posting a thing I just made this morning.

I needed to cut 2" thick memory foam for some cushions I was making for my wife - using scissors felt awkward, so I grabbed some nichrome wire and ceramic insulators from a different project, and hooked them up to a variac to control the heat.

I was sure to connect earth ground to the stainless steel wire support and to the table to ensure it was safe-ish. All in all, not a bad result for an hour of side questing.

Finished cushion next to one of the backing plywood pieces:
