I am looking for ways to improve my exploration gameplay in a Theater of the Mind type game where there is no map and no need for detailed environmental descriptions, if that makes sense; I don't want to have to keep track of corridors and turns, and that sort of thing.

Ideally I would like a system or ruleset that allows me to randomly generate interesting exploration gameplay without relying on having to map out everything. Preferably system agnostic so I can use it in various games.

Here's an example of the sort of thing I'm looking for, but would like to see alternatives that are a bit more in depth, or have more options:

I remember the go to strategy being to summon an Alip, an incorporeal undead that can drain strength without needing a save.

Been waiting for something like this; hope it works out well.

Well, there were these two old guys arguing about golf on TV. Can’t say that did wonders for me.

I’ve had an idea for a community based around recommending music to each other; you’d post a song or band and get recommendations. Basically a Build my Playlist community.

What happened now?

“Secure your soul.”

Second part of the question; is having your opinion validated by the group that important to you?

I think it would be better to ask where he stands on things, confirm the information from multiple sources, and make your own opinion.

Who’s “we”, and why do you feel the need to ask them if they like a particular comedian?

So, how serious are we about living on Mars at this point?

That’s about right

I think someone once said, “Freedom isn’t given, but must be fought for every generation.” Or something like that.

If not, I said it.

I'm not sure if this is the proper place to ask this, but I don't know where else to go. I'm having trouble reaching the pathfinder.social instance; I can't seem to post, or subscribe to their communities. Is anyone else having issues?

I have been using Windows my entire life, but since I got my Steam Deck I’ve been considering trying to get into Linux.

I obviously don’t have much of an idea where to begin, other than that I’m currently also trying to learn Javascript. I'd like a basic workstation I can code on and mess with, that doesn't run more than a couple hundred. Could use some recommendations for hardware plus where to begin.

I am currently trying to learn Javascript and am getting hung up trying to understand Regex. Does anyone have any good resources or recommendations for me?

I know this might be a bit of a long shot, but I figured I would give it a go;

I am trying to get Tyrian 2000 to work properly on my Steam Deck, via installing it from my gog library on Heroic. While it managed to install correctly I have a few issues that need to be resolved before I can continue;

The controller support is non-existent. I am unsure if that is fixable, though I suspect I might be able to get around it by remapping the Steam Deck controls. Not really a problem though if anybody knows a solution I'd be happy to hear it.

The real issue is that the music is not playing. Sound effects work just fine, so far, but I don't get any music. I suspect it has something to do with Dosbox, given the age of the game in question.

I’m trying to put a vinyl skin on my Steam Deck, and I’m having trouble; it keeps wrinkling up at the bottoms of the grips. Any suggestions?

Hello. I’m new to Lemmy and Memmy both, and I had a question regarding its functionality. Is there a way to open a link in Memmy? I have a community I want to join but clicking the link just opens it in my browser, and for whatever reason I can’t find the community in Memmy’s own search bar.
