I haven't thought about this possibility but it makes sense -- the infrastructure is in place for this kind of approach and it's certainly cheaper than the former theory in the first place.

Lovecraftian horror games. There have been some games in recent years but I think there's definitely a larger design space for this kind of thing. This could mix with other genres as well like survival and potentially rogue-like stuff.

Yeah the project manager's job is to provide percentages to their higher-ups, even if it's a dumb metric to go by. It's not your job to provide figures as an entry-level developer.

Makes me think this phenomenon has something to do with how humans have evolved. We are tribal in nature so we tend to perk up in response to negative stimuli, while we tend to relax and become irresponsive in comparison to the opposite.
It seems like a lot of the bad we're seeing in the world is a result of the human condition butting heads with the conditions we have created as a result of this human condition.
