lemm.ee is cool because it federates with so many other instances. I don’t understand why so many people are set on taking that away when they could just join a different instance that shares their zeal for defederating.
If someone tells you no or you try and fail at something, life actually just continues on from that point, and you can try other things
I had the same experience. I had to use the lemm.ee default web interface to block the two repost bots.
Why is it gross? They're posting things on their own server as a service to users who want it. They're not being dishonest or deceitful about it.
Firefish (Mastodon-compatibile microblogging) has a view called "Recommended", which is like "All" but shows posts from only federated servers that the admins recommend. It's a great feature and would be welcome on Lemmy.
In the meantime, I've blocked the two Reddit repost bot accounts and have been just fine since.
I don’t personally find these bot posts useful, and I think they clutter up the All timeline, but they aren’t being deceitful or anything, and there may be folks who find these posts useful. I like the lemm.ee federation policy of generally allowing everything unless it’s full of bad actors.

I'm very skeptical of their claims, but it's possible they've partnered with some small number of apps so that they can claim that this is technically working.
