FYI in their latest newsletter they said they're selling some gen 11 intel boards for $199. If you want to nab yourself one for a mod/server.

I've been daily driving it on my personal projects computer. The biggest issue for me is the promise of the project shell stops just before the application config files, meaning that you still have a shared environment for projects using the same software.

The idea for me was to have all my projects create their development environment and associated tools so that moving to a different instance was easy. Unfortunately VSCode doesn't install extensions in the project nor does it understand which to enable/disable based on inputs.

Have simple recipes on hand to lean on. Simple fried rice or pasta recipe with no more than 5 ingredients. Chop, all in the pan, wait 10 mins. Done.

On super lazy days I just have freezer pizza. I don't care...

So the prep is have onions, have rice and penne, then have some ingredients. Mine are roasted aubergines, red peppers all in oil, chuck them all in the pan. Or on the fried rice side peas, sweet corn, eggs maybe.

As a former Video Games Developer congrats on getting so far! The style of game she wants to make is very well suited to RPG Maker. This will be really good to get that Zelda itch scratched and may introduce her to some other Japanese franchises such as Final Fantasy.

For general graphics programming I recommend Processing as it is easy to set up compared to Python based libraries, with lots of tutorias. But it won't have anything that fits the definition of game (Maps, actors, etc).

Godot has come a very long way and the tutorials are amazing so I definitely suggest not staying too long in the RPG Maker land, and instead pick up the 2D side of Godot.

Edit: Just checked out gamefroot. Looks like a nice update to scratch so it seems like a good choice. After she reaches the limits of that I definitely recommend moving to something with text driving the code.

I think there's a difference between a private company making choices that increase engagement and a foreign government with economic interests to distabilise another country by temporarily tweaking the algorithm to only show rage, false news and calls to action according to their interests. Not saying that's what TikTok is doing, but with China's enforcing their national security laws globally it's not a stretch to assume they'll go against their economic competition especially when it only needs a small push.

All the features people talk about are very much candy that will go away when you are actually playing your games. If you need framerate and resolution AMD can definitely supply that in the equivalent performance board.
