It's a standard I grew up with - if anything I wonder if I should be raising it for inflation.

Much like servers, delivery drivers aren't paid properly if they aren't tipped. But, in my mind, the quantity of food matters a lot less to the delivery driver's work, unless it's a large enough order to require multiple trips from the vehicle.

For the amount of time a driver has to work to drive to me and park and bring my order to the front door, yeah I think $5 is more than reasonable. They probably spend more time on me than a server in a restaurant does, in a lot of cases.

A few weeks back I was out with my kids and heard about someone jumping in front of the train that day.

All I could think was: what if a kid was sitting up front enjoying the ride and looking at the tracks? How would I deal with that if it were my kid?

Sounds like a justified cost to me.

They already stop in the same place consistently. Look for the gum and scuffs on the yellow strip. That’s where the doors will open.

You can already tell by the gum on the yellow strip.

My three year old doesn’t bother with “no” most of the time, he just screams.

Or sometimes I get “NO I DO IT.”

What… I thought a twoonie was generous! You guys are all crazier than I am.

I’m in Canada but that may be true here as well.

Even from that description though it sounds like a grey area? Doing a craft project with someone isn’t like a romantic relationship or anything.

I did get some accidental “revenge” for this one.

Sometime months later, for some reason my phone started pocket dialling this psychologist and nobody else.

I didn’t even realize it was happening. But it drove her so nuts she called me about it a few times, and eventually asked me to remove her number from my phone.

Oh I have another one:

One counsellor I went to see through work insurance was just awful.

Most notably, I was dealing with issues surrounding having open heart surgery, and when I brought it up she started talking about her nephew or something who had some kind of heart problem, and how that obviously means she understands completely.

In my early 20s, I was seeing a psychologist for depression. Because of issues with my mom, she thought it’d be a good idea to have an appointment with her involved.

So my mom came to an appointment.

And right after they met, it turns out they started meeting up personally to do some kind of craft project together.

The psychologist did inform me and check if it was alright but I had no idea what to say. Trust broken and I just stopped making appointments.
